Favorite Enterprise battle

Post by BridgeConsoleMasher »

Across shows and movies.

I think my favorite is Nemesis.

Enterprise had really good battles.

Mine is "Yesterday's Enterprise". It's one of the few battles across the franchise that remembers these are supposed to be capital ships that maneuver slow, punch hard, and can take a beating. Outnumbered, outgunned, but they hold the line and go down all guns firing. "Let us make sure history never forgets the name Enterprise" indeed.

Yesterday's Enterprise is good in terms of display, but it fails to connect with the happenings on the bridge. It always felt goofy to me, though it is one of the rare instances, where there's actually a real battle going on on screen.

As for favourite battle-scenes all in all, Nemesis, definitly. Ranks right there with Azati Prime and the Sacrifice of Angels. Abslolutely aweinspiring... and in some regards, quite nightmare-fuelish in the case of Azati Prime.

P.S.:

I also think, that Azati Prime in particular, always needs to be highlighted, as it also works out as a beautiful piece of world-building, regardless on if it is intentional or happens by accident. Starfleet ships are often treated as a sort of glas-cannon. Their weaponry always does the deed and even Enterprise's weaponry is more than decent enough to deal with most foes they encounter, especially once they upgraded to phasers and, lateron, photonic torpedoes. What Enterprise NX01 always lacked, was proper defensive measures. Lateron we see, that the primary defense of Starfleet ships are their shields and whenever the shields were down, the game is basically over. I know this is down to budget constraints for the series, but this kinda trickled into secondary media as well. Starfleet ships are always big on shield technology, but kinda flimsy once the shields are down. Azati Prime clearly tought Starfleet a lesson they never forgot and it took till Defiant and the Souvereigns, till this truely changes :)

That's primarily what I was thinking about when I mentioned Enterprise. They really had the battles dialed down by that point.

If we're including the movies, then mine is the original Enterprise versus Reliant.

One from Nemesis is really good and only good thing about that movie.

Overall, Data's storyline is good across and within each movie.

How could I forget about that nice piece of three dimensional chess? Thanks for pointing that one out!

The battle from Nemesis is my favorite too, so I'll give my second favorite: the brief Hathaway vs. Enterprise battle from TNG's "Peak Performance." Not the most visually impressive battle, but it showed a little thought beyond technobabble or "attack pattern whatsis."
