The Snyder Cut is coming to HBO Max
Not sure I'd like it better than the Justice League we got in theaters, but a lot of people wanted it, so good for them.

Re: The Snyder Cut is coming to HBO Max
Quite frankly I don't think it would be much of an improvement, not without major changes. The DCEU has had many problems from clashing visions and meddling executives who are desperate to catch up with Marvel. I though Man of Steel was okay, but when I heard how much they were trying to cram into Batman v. Superman I knew they were in trouble.
I've said this elsewhere but I can't help but wonder if the internet had been around longer, would there have been a push to get the director's cuts of other movies that got screwed with by studios? We've gotten some of that like with this, the Donner cut of Superman 2 and the assembly cut of Alien 3, but what about stuff like Batman Forever, where the movie was much darker before Warner Bros. wanted to make it more family friendly after the backlash against Batman Returns being so dark (Batman Forever originally opened with Rene Auberjonois' character discovering Two-Face escaped from Arkham, killed a guard and wrote 'THE BAT MUST DIE' in the guard's blood just to let you know what they were originally going for) Hell, Schumacher even asked if they could do a 10th anniversary director's cut for the DVD boxset and WB wasn't interested.
What about stuff like Superman 4, where that movie had like a third of it cut by the producers because they wanted it to be screened more times a day to get as much money as possible. Granted it wouldn't help the movie much, but still...
What about The Crow: City of Angels, that movie was butchered so badly by Harvey Weinstein in editing that writer David S. Goyer disowned it while director Tim Pope couldn't bring himself to ever make a movie again because of the heartbreak of having his first movie taken away from him and mangled into a pale imitation of the original.
Hell, even the Thomas the Tank Engine Fandom (kind of like bronies, but they've been around even longer) have been pushing for a director's cut of Thomas and the Magic Railroad for over a decade, since it got screwed over by the studios, as the trains' voices were redubbed to sound less British, nearly half an hour was cut and an entire villain was removed because he terrified toddlers in the test screenings. A workprint leaked recently and I watched it out of curiosity because I loved Thomas when I was a little kid and was always fascinated by how it got messed with by the studio, and while it's quite unpolished (as workprints tend to be) I was surprised by how emotional and sad it got in a few spots.
There's been talk of an Abrams' cut of The Rise of Skywalker, but it won't help matters because, to be blunt, the story of the Sequel Trilogy is so bad there's no salvaging it, especially not with Abrams at the helm. Sure there would be some improvements like Kylo getting the holocr-I mean Wayfinder from an Oracle instead of just randomly finding it in a box, but the film's story is so poorly written and rushed it makes the worst of the Transformers movies look like an MCU flick by comparison.

I'm not really worried about the Snyder cut and don't really care either way, but I must say that this is a major win for the squad and all those Snyder haters can suck it. I'm not serious of course, but I'm generally happy for anyone that wanted to see it and the politics of it aren't that distracting really.

Eh, anyone who is expecting much from this should look at Batman vs. Superman and figure out how this was going to go. Yes, Superman is probably the villain, but we've already had "lets fight Superman." Frankly the best run of it was Injustice, and when your plot is going to run second fiddle to a video game plot, maybe you've got a problem.
I don't anticipate putting this very high on my watch list.

I actually do hold interest in seeing it on a comparative basis for arts sake, and this is probably one of if not the best opportunities for my interests to be tuned into a directors dynamic when focusing on a movie, like switching play modes on a DVD to see what's different.
But as a casual JL fan I am not looking to be totally surprised. I think if I were to revisit the series (talking like it's over and done with), I'd just see how well each director meshed with the cinematography to grapple each of the tones of the big 3's other movies, that being the varying art styles between Snyder, Jenkins, and Snyder.

This is a great fan victory. First stop, DC, next stop, LF!

From Wikipedia's article on Justice League Versions:
Certainly explains why the thing wasn't released. A four-hour movie in theaters? Unmarketable.[Justice League] will be released as either a four-hour film or six-part television miniseries as well as involve the original cast together.

When Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers and - The Return of the King were released here in Germany, there was the offer of a large cinema hereabout, to show the new movie back to back with the previous one(s). All 8 showrooms were reserved, due to the large demand. In the case of the third movie, that is over 9 hours sitting in the theatre. It is marketable. Your movie just needs to bring the quality and that right there is the real problem.TGLS wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 12:30 am From Wikipedia's article on Justice League Versions:

Yeah the only marketing problem they face as I can tell is getting enough showtimes out of the day. I mean if they really want to that is.
