Anyone see the trailer to this film? What do you think?

Like most noughties kids I read the series as a kid and enjoyed it but personally, i'm not sure who this is made for as the series has not been relevant since the noughties and we're now all in our late 20s to 30s now. I also question how many of the original fans are going to appreciate the tone of this film. It looks like Spy Kids - that was NEVER the tone of the books.
Plus... I don't know if it is wise to bring this up in the current climate... but the book version of Holly Short has dark skin! This girl is whiter than snow. I realise this was made before the current protests but Jesus, this has not aged well.
Not to mention that Mulch Diggums now looks like Gimli as opposed to a grey creature with prehensile hair.
I'm not mad, its been a long time since I was a fan of this series, but this Disneyfied mess is the exact opposite of what an Artemis Fowl movie should be.

I cannot believe Disney has had the rights to this property for close to 20 years (they owned Miramax after all) and this is the best they could do, it feels like Dragonball Evolution, Fan4stic or one of those direct to video Hellraiser sequels where they were made only so the studio could keep the rights to the franchise. It seems to me that Disney meddled with this movie a ton, I mean come on, Artemis is a criminal mastermind in the books and they made him a full-on good guy in the movie, that's getting rid of one of the most unique things about the books. It's clear they knew they had a stinker and since it wasn't like Marvel or Star Wars or a remake of an animated movie they didn't have some big name blockbuster franchise to attract people in, so they just dumped it on Disney+ to avoid having another bomb on their hands.

Yeah kind of merky the tone and backdrop. Like beef that's a little too grass fed.
My kind of story though.

They didn't even need to, honestly. He's explicitly Eurasian in the books, so no race-lifting needed. Hell, skin-tone-wise, the mistake is with Holly Short. Mocca-toned in the books, white as a sheet here.
And that's the problem with this film: it NEEDED to be a direct adaptation, the book was PERFECT for a film, but NO! They just had to tweak and tweak AND TWEAK until it all fell apart. They had TWENTY years to do this right and they got it SO wrong...
