One thing I don't Like about the Rise of SkyWalker

Post by BridgeConsoleMasher »

There was all this cornered writing to include departure cues for all the characters really, which sucks but alright whatever so far. So why am I going to care about Palpatine who was obviously brought back by same fashion? Same breakfast plate, just used for the entré this time.

Since LF was bold enough to claim they wanted "creative freedom" and to make the sequels a surprise, yet it was hardly surprising to me. My enjoyment of them came out of treating the movies as a parallel timeline, since I rather loved RO, yet there can be no denying that is the modern PC LF having Jan Ors steal Kyle Katarn's story. But, if you can turn off your brain, which is the intent from LF (refer to Mr. Martin's comments about whatever headcanon you want), then you enjoy them far more.

Already the new HR project has me far more hopeful it will be something new and interesting. LOTJ looks like a good read. Though I'll keep pushing for more new, official SWL content made. If, however, at some point that hasn't materialized, I could just leave the franchise altogether. I mean, the antics we see take place in the ST are far from outliers in the EU, and yet those had better execution, I'm sorry to say, JP, DE... and now we got all sorts of fanboy claims this proves they couldn't adapt the EU. But then a lot of reaction vids gushing over the return of Palpatine from casuals disprove this. You cannot blame the EU on the poor execution. Or that the creators now have become largely Hollywood insiders with no vision, with the exception or a few here and there.

Faith hasn't been damaged, but it has been a bit shaken, mostly due to their poor treatment of fans, treating a small sample as the whole, and the propaganda they put out for marketing or PC purposes, like once again declaring "firsties," that there's never been a multimedia project like HR done before, yeah... I could name several. And don't bring up canon arguments since LF adapting a butchered version of the EU is almost like a nod that yeah, it was canon. But hard canon only refers to six movies, anyway. Did you know that despite LF lies, we've had gay couples in SWL before? Ferus Olin and Roan Lands. So, yeah, if anything drives me away, it's not the haphazard adaptation or PC themes. It would be their vanity and lies.

Well, the whole "new" trilogy just came out bad.

Star Wars 7 should have been the send off for the original characters(Luke, Han, Lea, Chewy, Lando, etc) as they passed the torch to a new generation (Ray, Fin, Poe, etc) and not the dumb "lets make a movie exactly like the original Star Wars".

Star Wars 8 was a hilarious "ST 7 was crap, lets change everything to make it....er...better".

Star Wars 9 was just "er, um, lets just get rid of all this crap and forget about it".

Yeah but it was actually a good movie not unlike how ESB was a good movie. Only thing that chokes is the casino specifically. ESB is definitely better in terms of standalone, but Last Jedi was good in terms of directioning.

7 was actually the most logical movie they made imo.

Well, except ST 7 has the dumb fuel thing and the dumb "um capitalism is bad and so are casinos" , and that beyond dumb "Poe vs Hodo" plot.....and maybe the WORST of all the "er...well the bad guys, um, came out of light speed OVER THERE, for no reason, so they...um, can't catch the good guys, um, over here FOR NO LOGICAL REASON(other then to make the movies beyond dumb plot).
