Mass Effect Legendary Edition and Mass Effect 5 Announced

Post by Winter »

Among the MANY bits of big news that's been announced today one of the most exiting that sadly may get lost in the shuffle is the announcement that the Mass Effect Trilogy will be getting a remaster edition called the Legendary Edition and that we are also going to be getting another Mass Effect Game. For all my feelings about how much the ending of ME3 sucked I will admit that I am looking forward to MELE as it will be fun to play these games on the PS5 and that I am curious about what ME5 will be like. Thoughts? :D

I'm cautiously optimistic I guess. I mean I personally don't really have a problem just replaying the trilogy I already own. What's the point of a remaster here? Better graphics? Maybe I'm too crotchety but I found the graphics for the old triology was fine. Dated sure but fine. I'm sure it will be nice, but I'm probably gonna wait til the aftermath of the next Dragon Age game before I really get excited for Bioware again.

I heard rumbling of them overhauling ME1 to make it fit better with 2 & 3, gameplay-wise. Which would explain why it took TWO gens for the series to get a rerelease.

Also, ME1 never got onto a Sony system (Microsoft had exclusive distro rights, so they made an interactive motion comic as a recap and major choice selector), so that's nice for them.

I hope they fix the inventory system from ME1. It was terrible.
The past tempts us, the present confuses us, the future frightens us. And our lives slip away moment by moment lost in that vast, terrible in-between.

I'm slightly excited but overall somewhat ambivalent. ME2 and ME3 look OK anyway in my book - sure, a remaster would be nice but they're not terribly dated, whereas ME1 really needs a remake rather than just a remaster.
