THere is always Star Trek Online
Wanna know the connection with Iconian, Dyson Sphere, Those aliens that go in your mouth and take over your body, and those aliens that kidnapped the crew of the TNG crew for unknown experiments. Let's have sfdebris have fun with that one.
Re: THere is always Star Trek Online
The strained "Everything is Connected" is the worst aspect of STO, IMO.
Re: THere is always Star Trek Online
Well this puts me on the fence. Because the everything is connected bit is overused in SW and ST. So it can be off putting in STO.
But as it is done as a proxy war it begins to feel less forced and somewhat natural. And thus I give them some credit.

Does STO boast that it's "diverse" or "more diverse?" I REALLY hate that given the IP's long history, much the same way I feel about SW.
Re: THere is always Star Trek Online
Same, I like that they're going back to unanswered questions and unutilized aliens from the franchise and expanding upon them like with the Elachi and Bluegill, even creating new lore like with the Iconians and Tzenkethi, but I do see how with all these connections it can seem contrived to others.
I've honestly been enjoying the stories after the Temporal Cold War with the mystery and threat of the Hur'q, and even the Discovery stories and the current Klingon Civil War arc, as they've felt very tightly focused without incorporating too many elements of the franchise, with interesting twists and turns in the narrative, as well as having very cinematic cutscenes and fun gameplay elements that gives the whole game a sense of polish to it.

Part of what keeps me happy with STO is that they are rarely complacent. Oh sometimes it may take a bit to fix or alter something. But don't assume it will never happen.
They redid the Federation tutorial from you being the only officer to survive a borg attack to the training cruise missions. And it was an improvement, both visually and story wise. Then they did the Discovery tutorial and it was basically the same federation tutorial but done way better and actually tied into the following missions.
When the Romulan faction dropped they finally made the klingons a 1 to cap group and the tutorial was good. With the year of the klingon they have revamped that mission. All characters looking better than ever. Better and smoother dialog. And the fights and cut scenes sharp and cinematic to pull you right in.
A wish that probably can't come to pass? Chuck having a record of the old KDF tutorial. Then going back and doing it again with essentially the same character to show it side by side.
It may not be the hottest thing on the block. But she does keep getting better.

Absolutely, not only do we get new content, but they're always making quality of life changes and updates to the game.Nealithi wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 2:51 pm Part of what keeps me happy with STO is that they are rarely complacent. I also love the Discovery era tutorial for the same reasons, the cutscene of a crew member getting blown out into space with your character unable to do anything but watch in shock was fantastic and a personal favourite, I also love how your characters are very expressive now in those cutscenes, plus having Cadet Tilly (actually voiced by Mary Wiseman) along for the missions is a lot of fun, I laughed at her mentioning Kirk getting bullied by Finnegan, poor Jim.

It does feel a bit like its less "a world with a billion things" than something like Babylon 5 where its a much smaller reality.
