Funny Thing I Noticed About The Mandalorian

Post by Winter »

So, it's been made clear by the people at Disney and Lucas Film that they are planning on making a MCU like story which will have several shows and possibly films that all tie into each other over the next few years that is all building towards a major story (unknown at this time if it's a film or Miniseries). And what I found funny about this idea is this.

The first major story in this MCU like story is a about someone, who wears a suit of armor that has several gadgets who can fly and is directed by Jon Favreau... We're basically watching the Star Wars equivalent of Iron Man!

Winter, you know as well as I do the EU was already doing connected stories long before Disney bought SW. And MCU popularized that, so of course the studios would want that.

It did some connected stories but there was no plan for the series as a whole. The Original EU was created by a number of writers who Lucas gave free range to do as they liked in the universe he created with little to no limitations and that's what many of them did. But there was no plan beyond some ideas that Zahn and a few others had put together at the start but many writers just threw all that out to do as they saw fit.

Not unlike what we got at the start of the Disney Era where there was no plan and the one in charge just let the writers do as they saw fit the difference was that, with a few exceptions, everything that had to be written purely to fill in plot wholes the films created. This ultimately culminated in Rise of Skywalker being made with massive gaps in it's story that all supplementary material had to fill in to explain things away even if they made no sense.

Now, it seems that Disney has learned their lesson and are working to created a ongoing story that is tied together through several stories in order to lead into some big event and given how Disney is making a big deal about Thrawn and the Empire rebuilding itself along with a few rumors of a certain red haired assassin making her long awaited debut into Star Wars odds are good that we're going to see some sort of Thrawn Trilogy Adaptation. I could be wrong but so far the theory does fit the facts that we have right now.

But the point of this post was to just poke fun at the fact that this possible major story that will be covering several years and lead into some major event (most likely in time for the 50th Anniversary of Star Wars which is about 6 years from now) all started, like the MCU, with someone in armor who can fly and uses multiple gadgets.
