Where did the Dark Universe go wrong?

Like its approach to universes.
Personally I got to thinking about this when I considered that it'd be really neat to see more of a ground level world (perhaps a streaming show(s)) where we see these cultures fleshed out.
But as far as the films they did go for, they seem like standard protagonist formula epics that more or less are lucky if they can stay afloat, more and more these days even.

I feel that the plot regarding Fire, Water and Earth and Prince in particular, kinda meandered into nowhere. LEXX was fun until then.

Sounds lame.

LEXX is overall just pure madness and fun. I highly recommend it.

You mean the movie that made Sean Connery lose faith in the industry?

Sean Connery has no relation to the LEXX-series.

Two problems I thought was one they put setting up a universe above telling a good story, never ever, ever a good move. It didn't help the whole plot got rewritten because Tom Cruise hada fragile ego and the studio was too cowardly to tell him no.

I wouldn't be, to be blunt.

True but I feel like the second he made demands like that they needed to go another direction share universes don't work with vanity projects.
