The Last of Us PS5 Remake... What?

I... Is... What...
Did... did anyone ask for this? With most other remakes or remasters there was a demand for them. Mass Effect, Shadow of the Colossus, Final Fantasy 7 and even Crash Bandicoot had fans asking for said remakes and remasters for one reason or another but The Last of Us? I don't know of anyone who was asking for this. I've seen fans demanding a remake of TLOU2 but no one was asking for part 1 to be remade.
And on top of that, it's not a game that needs to be remade. TLOU was remastered for the ps4 back when the PS4 lunched and thanks to the PS5 being backwards compatible with most PS4 games, which includes EVERY Naughty Dog game that is available for the PS4 and the game HAS aged well in terms of both story and gameplay. Even the argument that it's being done to make money doesn't make any sense as TLOU is already owned by most PlayStation fans and consider it a classic and a must own.
Even official news outlets have pointed out that remaking TLOU makes no sense for the reasons I just pointed out. When Spider-Man was rebooted into the Amazing Spider-Man and then rebooted again into the MCU both times it made sense. The first time was to hold onto the rights to Spider-Man and since no script that everyone could get behind was made Sony basically went "F it we'll just reboot the series". And then when that failed Sony made a deal with Marvel Studios that would allow them to bring Spidy into the MCU but still let them keep the rights to the character.
Sure it was annoying when Spidy rebooted so quickly in a rather short amount of time but from a business standpoint it made sense and the latter had the backing of being something fans WANTED to see. But this.
From a business and fandom standpoint this makes no real sense as no one was asking for it and no one wants it. Even the upcoming reboot for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time make sense as there has been a demand for it due to the series popularity but the original game being dated in both graphics and some gameplay elements (most notably combat). Sure, it doesn't look great but it made sense to make it.
So, The Last of Us PS5 Remake... Why?
