Why would a Maquis member trust a cardassian masquerading as a Bajoran? I never understood it.

Generally, the story is that Seska was suggesting that Janeway's lack of focus on getting back to their homeland and unwillingness to bend Starfleet regulations was going to get them all killed/never back home. The Maquis had a bunch of ideologues among them and true believers [Chakotay, Torres] but also recruited a fairly decent amount of criminals just looking for a job as well [Paris].

Presumably Jonas fell into the latter category.

Michael Jonas is to Eddington as the Delta Flyer is to the Defiant.

Hmmm yes the color of blue is like being an apple because of wasps... I get it.

I think Voyager writers just never really developed the idea of the Maquis as a component of the crew, instead of what we really got the fully integrated crew by episode 4.

I actually don't...

I think I was only being formulaically descriptive.

You'd be surprised at what relationships form with mutual enemies over matters and how hostile expected allies can be.

The real Maquis was a sideshow in WWII France because the factions fought more among themselves than against the Germans.

I was just messing around.

Yeah the comparison between Jonas and Eddington is that there is none. Vastly different characters will very different motivations.

Just though that they carry the same demeanor and do the same thing kinda.

Yeah, I can see it. Very different execution, but there are similarities.

To me, from a narrative perspective, they are fulfilling the same roles as double agent foils for the protagonists. As far as the character roles their initial persona lets on, I can't remember the difference between them.

Keep in mind also though that, while one is vastly more aspirational and poetic in their rues, they both end up with the same fate in a considerably similar amount of time.
