Disney has just bought Lucas Film and their main focus right now is on Star Wars and continuing where the Original Trilogy left off. A number of rumors are thrown around with some thinking it will be the long and over due Sequel Trilogy and if so will it be an Adaptation of the Thrawn Trilogy with a new cast as the original Trio or a Retelling of the infamous Legacy of the Force with the original actors reprising their roles.

However, the plan for right now has Disney and Lucas film focusing on the small screen using ideas based on Lucas' now cancelled Star Wars: Underworld series. Disney's first big step is a TV Series that will see release in 2019 to take advantage of a new tech that will replace green/blue screens with LED Screens. The Mandalorian is released towards the end of 2019 to huge critical and commercial success with many praising it, saying that it rivals the Clone Wars in terms of quality which just finished its 8 Season run.

With the success of The Mandalorian Disney begins to make plans for several more shows all of which will help to buildup to a major story event much in the same way how Marvel Buildup the arrival of the Avengers.

Imagine, if the scene with Luke at the end of Season 2 was the first time we actually saw Luke. Imagine that this series was how we started the Disney Era of Star Wars. Just imagine.

Now, a big factor in The Mandalorian's success has been a result of the mixed reception of the Disney Sequel Trilogy but I honestly do think that even if TDST was never made and THIS is how the next chapter started it likely would have still be very well received.

But I want to know what you all think. What do you think the world would be like if Star Wars began with TM and TDST, as it is now, came to be?

If Disney Star Wars started with The Mandalorian and seeing Luke in season 2 may not have as big of an effect than it did in real life.

Though if that was a one off and from there we see Mark Hamill in his full Jedi Master glory, that would be good too. Though if they make a point to have a young Luke in his 20's then might as well push that button and cast a lookalike. Sabastian Stan for example.
