The 3 part story from the original series The Ultimate Doom is, IMO, one of the best story arcs in the original series. The basic premise is Megatron has brought Cybertron to Earth and plans to use it to orbit around Earth to create as much Energron as possible while working with a mad scientist and mind-controlling several humans before, in the end, the Autobots manage to get Cybertron back to it's orginal solar system by destroying all the Energron Megatron had collected... The 80's!!!
But in all seriousness Ultimate Doom is a overall solid episode with some really great moments for the entire cast, one of Optimus' most vulnerable moments as to save his world he has to put Earth in danger. Spike's arc in this episode of trying to save his mind-controlled father is honesty really good and very dramatic and it has some of the coolest imagery in the entire series. Case in point.
That is honestly just as creepy as seeing Unicron coming towards you but with the added twist that this is a world that is the home of the Autobots and it's being used to destroy a place they've come to care about as much as their home world. This is honestly something that would be great to see in a movie and since it's a 3 part story it would be rather easy to adapt it into a 3 act movie. Even the character of Doctor Arkeville could be a fun antagonist as he allows Spike to have a more personal adversary as he tries to save his father WITHOUT removing the focus from the Transformers.
The movie Bumblebee is confirmed to be getting a sequel with a cast and crew already coming together and that this will lead to a reboot that ignores the Bayverse completely and continues in the style that started with Bumblebee. While I want Ultimate Doom to be made into a movie I do think it should be saved as a third film instead of a second but I do honestly think this could be adapted into a great Transformers movie if given the chance.
Thoughts?
