Wraith (Stargate) vs. the Federation

Post by Yukaphile »

Okay, yeah, on a big giant sci-fi kick lately, but... this is interesting. Why not? We debated the Ancients vs. the Federation, why not step it down a notch. The Wraith should make for an interesting debate.

Wraith may have a speed advantage in that even if they got slower hyperdrives, have to drop out occasionally to heal the damage, and Pegasus Galaxy is smaller than the Milky Way.

But Trek has photon and quantum torpedoes that can (we never seen them shot down) wreck hive ships. Starfleet ships have very impressive accuracy with its phasers which may be suicidal for their darts.

Wraith have like 60+ hive ships, plus perhaps a couple hundred cruisers (assuming two or three cruisers for every hive ship). Trek has a fleet in the thousands if not low ten thousand.
I got nothing to say here.

Wraith ships have no shields. I just cannot see these things surviving a volley of photon torpedoes. Plus the hyperdrive advantage is far smaller here as they cannot sustain it and is much slower. As I said in the other thread, warp drive is different to hyperdrive as it allows you to fire in real space.
Wait for the hive ships to drop out of their slow hyperdrive and unleash a warp drive attack. Done.

What would be interesting to consider is if they can grow enough Hive ships out of Federation power sources. That was my thinking when I wrote this. Like what almost happened to Dr. Keller.

Assuming the Federation doesn't have anything that can deal with it. I forgot how infected the doctor in that Atlantis episode.

Well, they were in Michael's lab, presumably they went into a room and breathed in some kinda spore pathogen that was loose in a vial. Within a matter of days is all it would take. You know, it makes the foothold situation in "Midway" even scarier, since if they could have escaped the SGC, you know they had to have brought some kinda sci-fi "packet" with them containing those spore pathogens, and would have infected humans near enough power sources to grow Hive ships. God, Stargate is so cool. Star Trek, what the hell has happened to you...? :(
