Next Mass Effect Get's a Poster

Interesting poster, nothing about it really screams Mass Effect and yet, it's nice. It has a very creepy atmosphere with the party making their way towards a crater that gives this poster an almost horror movie vibe. I can only make out one of the party members which is clearly a Krogan but the others, it's impossible to tell from this angle.

The ship is interesting as it reminds me a lot of the Defiant from Deep Space 9 while still retaining elements ME's Normandy. Have to admit, design wise, I've never been a fan of the Normandy, she was just to slender and I liked the Tempest even less. But I actually kinda like what I've seen of this ship but I can't make a full judgement on it yet as we've get to get a proper look at it.

Overall, not a bad poster, it's vague and leaves me with a lost of questions which is what good marketing should do. I'm still not excited for the upcoming game yet (yes I'm still bitter about the ending) but my interest is peaked. Thoughts?

Not sure of my thoughts on the ship from this angle.
As to the Normandy. . . I admit when I first saw her I thought she was a space airliner. But just as my friend told me I would start with hating the Mako and by end game love that thing. So to did I find attraction to the Normandy.
I found myself loving and hating the Tempest. Design wise it not being armed was a fine point. It was a civilian explorer after all. And I thought it looked nice and most of the interior was well done. Except I think the Pathfinder quarters were a bit over done. The regular bunks were submarine or navy style racks. But the Pathfinder had a room that would not be out of place in a luxury hotel.

This ship by crew scale looks to be ignoring the thruster setup the previous games had. The cockpit seems too small for more than one person and it seems smaller than even the Tempest. So have to wait to see how it goes.

Now sadly I am in the very small minority. I want a sequel to Andromeda. But I doubt that is what this is.

I wonder if it will follow from Joker crashing the Normandy on Eden planet.

Has there been any word when it's set? Liara is still kicking around but that only cuts it down to within a thousand years of the trilogy.

The difference in ship aesthetic makes me think they're trying to imply it's been a fair while.

Tying into Nealithi's wish for this to be a sequel to Andromeda which the developers have hinted at a few times by bet is that it will take place about a couple of years after the end of MEA so figure 600 years after the Original Trilogy. If MEA is being followed up along with the Trilogy then my guess is that during the 600 hundred year voyage the Milky Way Galaxy developed a method of traveling between the two galaxies either because they wish to reconnect with those who left or there is a threat so dangerous that it requires the aid and resources of the Andromeda galaxy.

BTW, this was pointed out elsewhere but has anyone noticed that the crater looks like the head of a Geth?

Mass Effect hasn't been good since the first one.

Yes, obviously 2 has some legit excellent stuff in there, even 3 has the stand-out moments even if they don't matter thanks to the end, and yet I genuinely do believe the rot started there in 2 that would only continue to be more blatant in 3 and Andromeda.

Don't even say that to be all smug or to poo-poo other's enjoyment. If this makes you hype I wish I could be there with you. I'm jealous honnestly that you still have faith after 3, Andromeda, and Anthem. This is just an expression of pure bitterness and disappointment about how one of the best ever CRPGs for me, up there with KOTOR1, New Vegas, and Baldur's Gate 2 went so horribly, horribly wrong.

I hadn't seen it. But now you point it out, I can't unsee it.

Along with Nealithi - now you've mentioned that I can't unsee it either. Interesting!

I like the poster for this stage - a little hint to get you pondering and keep interested but without encouraging "it's right around the corner."

On the ship design the size makes me wonder if it's a large shuttle rather than your main ship (or perhaps you'll have a choice of ships?)

On a related note to the highlighted point I like how the Drew Struzan style posters have made a comeback in resent years with more posters that are done by an artist instead of just photo shopping the cast together. This poster looks amazing that, as you pointed out, teases what to expect, without giving anything away. I was hoping that yesterday would have given us a trailer or something but a good poster would do.

As for the ship, my guess is that we're not going to be given a ship instead of letting us choose our own on the grounds that it will be easier/cheaper to make one ship for both exterior and interior shots and if you want to make an icon you have to pick a design and stick to it.

It is possible that this is just a shuttle but we don't know, so we'll wait and see. :)
