The Reylo "Friendship" Kiss

A while ago I posted a thread on the sillyness of the Taiwanese translation of trying, and failing, to change the nature of Luz and Amity's relationship from romantic to "Awesome Best Friends" while changing literally Nothing else and how back in the 90's the same thing was done with Haruka and Michiru on Sailor Moon by changing the obvious lovers to cousins. The reason for this is stupid as it's just the mentality of the time and HILARIOUS because of what is either a lack of thought on the part of the translators or said translators seeing how stupid this is and just screwing with the network.
But what's really funny is how the same thing happened to Rey and Kylo Ren/Ben Solo during and after the release of the Disney Sequel Trilogy over on Star Wars. During the release Disney and Lucas Film was tight lip on whether Rey and Kylo had romantic feelings for each other even though the text of the film's make it obvious that the two are, for whatever reason, in love with each other. At least that's the case in The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker with the latter even having the two kiss, on the lips for the whole world to see as Ben gave his life to save Rey... Which didn't turn out to very well as it managed to piss off both none shippers and shippers alike.
It seemed that the none shippers were in the majority, or where at least the ones Disney was listening to the most, as soon after the film was released there was a TON of supplementary material trying to retcon the kiss and the relationship as not being romantic and that Rey just saw Kylo/Ben as just a good friend... I mean, what?
One reviewer put this best so I'll just quote them "How did they manage to no homo and Heterosexual Relationship". Much like the translations of the two couples I mentioned before it's hilarious to see a studio try to paint what is obviously meant to be a romantic relationship as a completely platonic relationship only now with a relationship a studio would normally support but the backlash from both those who disliked the ship and those who supported it was so massive that Disney and Lucas Film tried to change the nature of the relationship even though it was obvious what the creators of the second and third film intended the relationship to be viewed as.
It's, honestly, just hilarious.
