I am not a huge gamer but Fallout is one of the few franchises I did get into so I am more than a little curious how this will turn out.

Well I did say the same thing about She-Ra and The Princessses of Power and I liked that. Then again it was a cartoon series made by fans of the original and this is a live action adaptation of an RPG so who knows...

Well I'm just considering most of the strengths of Fallout are of tone, setting, and the player making decisions, while the stories are generally weaker. It fits Video Games well, but not serial television.

Like most RPG's its biggest strength is its setting, so i would be more inclined to make an original story that takes place in the same universe. You could link it to the games, like this could be right after the first game so it deals with the last remnants of The Master's army and the first signs of emerging Enclave.

Given that the all the games are designed to be very open ended you would almost have to just make it all up if you tried to adapt any of the games.

Fallout 1 done in the minimalist way The Mandalorian is done would be awesome, but we all know they're going to make a Bethesda Fallout show, more less stark reality and dark sinisterness and more goofiness and head 'splosions.

As for the ending, you have to go with finding the evidence of supermutant sterility and having The Master off himself in horror. The heart of Fallout is the evil of ideology and the desire to perfect humanity is, how each antagonists plan is fundamentally flawed and just creates a ton of death and misery.

It's why even in NV the NCR is just misguided in their folly compared to Caesar. They are just people being people repeating the same mistakes we always make without the pretense that they are doing something special like he is.

Concerns.
Fallout has ghouls, those are just like zombies right? And post apocalyptic is the same as after the virus right? So Walking Dead with a different name!

The trick is the Retro (50's) futuristic post apocalypse. They get that and they have setting.

That is what worries me, that the executives are going to take a WAY too simplified approach to this whole thing and it will be a generic knock-off.

I wish they use the original super mutants, the smarter ones are better than the dumb comic relief ones that obsidian keep making.

I would gladly watch one with the tone, feel, and bleakness of Fallout 3.

That was pure atmosphere and I still think of seeing the Capital Wasteland for the first time as a transformative moment.
