Well, the 2000's were all about adapting novels, the 2010's were the decade of super heroes, 2020's might be the age of video game adaptions.

I call Shadow.

I always remember likening the soundbite that plays when you roll over that car (might actually be Mr. Grimm's motorcycle) in player select to a soundbite in Rob Zombie's Dragula as the song gets running.

Turns out Rob Zombie is in the 4th game!

I saw a video and while I never play it, but it arcade endings are fun. I am pretty sure they haven't really done anything with it in about a decade.

It's supposed to be a dark comedy which...um, meh?

I don't know what to think, I mean the games were kinda goofy, it wasn't until Black on the PS2 and it took a more serious tone.

I think you can describe the game as a dark comedy as well.

What else can you do with such a premise than be silly?

Much the same went with Mortal Kombat. It works with the undercurrent of silliness behind it but falls apart once it starts taking itself too seriously, which MK did rather quickly.

For this, I don't see how a halfway decent movie can come from this. It's not a game that could easily be translated into a movie without too much fallout out of it. This is giving me House of the Dead vibes.
