As many of you no doubt know the second saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been given the title of the Multiverse Saga but I hate to wonder... Is that really the right title for this saga?

To compare with the Infinity Saga, while it took a while for the series to get to the infinity stones (5 films) and it wasn't revealed until Thor: The Dark World (the 8th film in the series) what the driving force of the saga would be the overall focus of the first phase was more about bringing the Avengers together and as soon as that was done what the plot of this saga started and did not stop.

After TTDW it was obvious to see where the series was going and how each film tied into that major plot thread. But I don't get that with the current saga and while the Multiverse is playing a major role that doesn't really seem to be the main driving force behind events right now.

Honestly, I think this should have been called the Legacy Saga because most of the films have dealt with the heroes either picking up the mantle of the past heroes or coming to terms with the legacy they are now part of.

The Falcon and the Winter Solider is about Sam taking on the role of Captain America, Black Widow introduced Yelena who will become the next Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is about Shang learning about his legacy as a result of being the Son of The Mandarin. Eternals is about the title characters realizing and learning the truth of their legacy and rejecting it, Hawkeye is about Kate taking on the mantle of Hawkeye when Clint passes it onto her, Spider-Man: No Way Home has Peter of the MCU learning about the great Legacy about Spider-Man across the Multiverse.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is clearly setting up America as Steven's apprentice while also dealing with HIS Legacy across the Multiverse, Ms. Marvel shows that Kamala is clearly a fan of Captain Marvel and will clearly become part of her legacy and Black Panther is clearly dealing with the fallout of T'Challa and who will take his place.

Even later films in the saga are clearly dealing with this them of Legacy with Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, The Marvels, Ironheart, the next Captain America film, Armor Wars and, of course, the upcoming Avengers films.

Obviously I can't see the future (I'd obviously have used it to warn everyone about the Hell that has been the last 7 years (along with getting several winning lottery tickets)) but I honestly think this saga has been incorrectly named because, so far, the Multiverse has played a rather small role in this saga so far while the theme of Legacy has been driving the events of the plot and the characters forward.

Thoughts?
