DC To Have 10-Year Plan Akin to Marvel’s Playbook, Says David Zaslav

Just two days after Warner Bros. Discovery made the stunning move to cancel the HBO Max film Batgirl, an unapologetic CEO David Zaslav sought to reassure Wall Street there is a cohesive plan for the future of DC.

“You look at Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman — these are brands that are known everywhere in the world,” Zaslav said during an earnings call Thursday. “We have done a reset. We’ve restructured the business where we are going to focus, where there is going to be a team with a 10-year plan focusing just on DC. We believe we can build a much more sustainable business.”

I will believe it when I see it.

I guess we will have the 87th Batman coming up soon. Or if they are smart use the The Batman as a jumping point.

Aww, I liked the chaos personally. MCU you know pretty much exactly what you're going to get. DC films though have been wild and a lot more experimental which led to films that sure could fail, and could fail hard, but when they didn't, they had their own individual quality that made them more fun and memorable.

Yep. My thoughts too. They have utterly failed up until this point.

When you have a guy cancelling projects left and right, including complete and even released projects, how the hell are you going to pull off a 10 year plan? What happens when you get a mediocre performer like the first Thor or captain America movies?

Well those were the first off the MCU movies. I suspect at that time there wasn't much expectations like MCU movies are now.

There are three other DC movies, one of which is a legacy of Snyderverse. The other is related to it. And not sure where Black Atom will fall.

Well some say the higher ups pushed for the DC universe to catch up with the big crossover movies. Others say it was all part of Snyder's vision.

They should have put out the solo movies out first. Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Flash, and a second Man of Steel movie. Maybe where Superman does Superman things to get the world to love him like how BvS supposedly made us believe.

Superman doesn't die so early. Maybe leave that for the second Justice League movie with a couple of new faces liek Green Lantern and Manhunter and maybe even Shazam.

There is also a possibility that by the time DC gets its act together that the world may be superhero movie tired.

''Snyder's vision'' lol. Whenever I hear the words ''Snyder's vision'' I think of some reverse King Midas. As I said in my opening post, this man has been a disaster. His ''vision'' has brought the DC cinematic universe to the brink of absolute ruin.

His decision to do the Death of Superman in movie two was foolish because it basically meant that the Justice League movie wasn't a Justice League movie. It was the Search for Spock.

For starters we don't know if what's already been made will even factor into the current plans or if it's going to be a hard reboot. The other issue is the current head of Warner is someone with TV experience rather than film experience and the TV experience is in reality TV. Reality TV has incredibly fast turn over, going from concept to a shot season of television can be a matter of weeks. We can even see this mindset in the massive cuts he's already making as compared to even other mergers.
