Back over in the prvious post I asked for ideas for a Fantasia Video Game Sequel. Not an adaption of the original film but a wholly unique story with it's own segments. One of the ideas I suggested for that was one segment based on the iconic game Journey while hammerofglass suggested one based on the game Flower which was also developed by the same company that did Journey. Another idea I had would be something similar to Shadow of the Colossus (not nearly as long as each segment has to be about one or 2 hours at most) and I have no doubt that, if done right, this could be an AMAZING game that is on par with the original film.
However, going back to the first two films I realized that there is one thing that would be needed to make this a proper Fantasia story that is, of course, the single most iconic segment in the film, The Sorcerer's Apprentice. This is the one segment that just about everyone remembers and knows about even if they've never seen the film alongside Night on Bald Mountain and while all the segments are great this is the one thing that everyone remembers. However, that leads me to an issue with the segment and that was its handling in the sequel Fantasia 2000. The problem with TSA in F2000 is quite simple, it's the original segment from the original film, brought into this film by popular demand which is understandable but it was a mistake IMO.
Look I LOVE this segment, it's iconic, it's one of the few times Mickey has been in a full length film but if I wanted to watch this iconic segment I would just watch the original Fantasia this segment is unneeded and kinda hurts the sequel as it just reminds us of the OG Fantasia instead of doing something new.
Therefore, this segment in this hypothetical game would NOT just be a video game adaptation of the original segment but a sequel to the original.
The basic idea here is that this segment takes place a few years after the original as Mickey BECOMES a Sorcerer and Earns the iconic hat. Yeah, we've seen Mickey with this hat in just about every media up to and including PhilharMagic which is basically a parody or Fantasia in ride form yet we've never seen Mickey ever earn that hat. So this segment would show Mickey finally doing so as he uses his magic either to stop some great threat or to show off what he's learn which, of course, would include the return of the iconic broom men.
Personally I would prefer the latter as it would show Mickey growing from the original and would make it unique from the original as it's not just the original again like what we got in the first sequel.
However, I would like to see another bit of Mickey thanking the conductor for this segment as it's just iconic and I just like it.
Not much else to add here, I think we should have a Sorcerer's Apprentice segment as it is such an iconic part of the series thanks to being done in both films but I do want a new segment with new music instead of just doing what has already been done.
