Random Fantasy and Sci-Fi Thoughts

Post by CharlesPhipps »

What the thread title says:

* I think that if the New Republic ever gets Palpatine's files, it's going to be a wild time for historians:

"Just so we're clear, Count Dooku the legendary rebel against the authoritarian Republic turned Empire was actually an agent OF the Supreme Chancellor the entire time. Furthermore, the Clone was a false flag operation designed to destroy the Jedi and institute martial law helped by corporations that knew this the entire time. Oh and he was a wizard."

*Doesn't matter if the NX-01 was designed to look what fans think a 22nd century ship would look like, the series was doomed to fail. It was evident that Berman and Braga were both worn out and it didn't help the studio heads were too involved.

*There is a huge gap between Enterprise-A and and Enterprise-D. As in there should have been at least one more major class of its time.

*Season 4 of Discovery had a big time Admiral who was of African descent, then the finale showed the President of Earth was of the same. Then the big Earth view was of Africa. Is Africa the big player in Earth politics in Discovery?

*Worf looking like himself in Picard Season 3 promos. But at the same time we saw Discovery Era Klingon skull in the Nazi Federation timeline. And it was Martok.

*Will Guyver continue with a multi year hiatus going on right now?
I got nothing to say here.

"I think the Temporal Cold War was a fantastic and interesting way to tackle the idea of updated visual effects and evolving canon in the Star Trek franchise. They could have used it as an excuse for anything and also made commentary on the nature of continuous storytelling, reboots, and shared continuity.

But like JJ Abrams, there actually was no plan whatsoever for any of it."

I think in the first episode of Enterprise they should have revealed Captain Braxton was future guy, and that Archer was supposed to have been killed in a piloting accident years ago. And now Braxton's trying to stop history from being thrown completely out of whack.

Tucker should have been written as a guy who lulled people into a false sense of security by acting dumb and modest. "I learned everything fixing boats" should have been his way of saying that he worked for the sea navy.

Population projections suggest Africa will be the most populous continent by the end of this century. Africa has a significant wealth of minerals important to a post-carbon economy. Air travel has removed a significant geographic weakness for Africa (a lack of natural harbors and timber near the coast for shipbuilding). If they dispense with the warlords and terrorist cells (many of whom are supported by outside forces to export their wealth and repress their population) holding them back culturally, Africa could be an economic and political powerhouse going into the future.

I have seen some articles talk about it. Hell I remember China floated the idea of sending 300 million to Africa to alleviate their population problems.

But yeah even with the mining going on there, it's still a relatively untapped continent.
