Should Avatar Studios Go With the 2D/3D Hybrid Style

Around the time Avatar Studios was announced with several new projects on the line it was also announced that the series would be using a new animation style, a sort of 2D and 3D Hybrid. There weren't really that many details but the more fans saw and heard the less encourging things got with MANY fans saying the series should stay as 2D with few to no 3D. I will admit that I was among those who felt this way as 2D often feels like a dying style and wanted the series to remain as it started.

However, I did understand where the studio was coming from as in order to make a profit it HAS to draw in a large crowed and 3D reaches a wider audience then 2D. BUT I did feel that maybe the series could the AMAZING 2D Lightning System that was used to great effect in Klaus.

BEAUTIFUL!!! I would LOVE 2D to start USING this as it could bring 2D back in a big way but sadly I haven't seen this used after Klaus despite the film's positive reception which is a shame. However, it seems that the fandom's negative reception to the news of the new Style for the series got through as it was later announced that the series would remain as a 2D series and it was right around this time that I started to shift my opinion in favor of the 2D/3D Hybrid Style.

The series for this was mainly down to the AMAZING shows and films that have used this new style to great effect. With Arcane

Into the Spider-Verse

And Most recently in the hugely enjoyable Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

I honestly got to thinking, maybe the series SHOULD go with this style as it's clearly becoming the next big thing in Animation and as Someone who loves 2D and greatly Respects 3D I've grown to kinda love this style. Maybe not go with the more over the top style but still I could see this working with the series.

I doubt it will happen now but it could happen in the future and at the very least I think the films that Avatar Studio is Producing should go with this style. I mean it's VERY telling that people are calling out Disney for NOT using this new style and that it might have played a part in Strange World poor box office returns.

As the Director for The Bad Guys said, "The Race for Realism is over" we now have films that look so real that many have assumed it IS real and while the it will continue to improve we're at a point where we want something new and the Spider-Verse Style is that new hot thing and maybe we were all to quick to criticized Avatar Studios for wanting to join in on the fun.

Again, I want 2D to truly return but the Spider-Verse style is a good compromise as 2D IS included and helps give newer shows and films (and likely games to follow) more change for better atmosphere and memorable style.

I personally prefer hand drawn just because there isn't enough of that going around and we shouldn't lose that. I mean feel free to create as many new stuff with 2d/3d just don't try to take a hand drawn series computer design just to make it because they can. That just my two cents.

It's not so much about preference but rather about adaptation and survivability. The reason we sadly don't see many 2D films is because 3D is more popular in Animated Films in the West while 2D in Japan with anime has remained popular. However, the style of 3D with films like Raya and the Last Dragon and Shrek has begun to fall out of popularity hence why we're seeing so the Spider-Verse Style rise in popularity.

So I'm not suggesting that Avatar switch over to the Spider-Verse style just because but rather I want to see this series thrive and in terms of films I think the Spider-Verse style would be better as, again, 2D doesn't do very well unless it's anime.

I guess that is fair.
