Why Wasn't THIS the Indominus Rex?!?!

I've never liked the design of the Indominus Rex from Jurassic World. We're told that this is a Hybrid Dinosaur that it will give the parents nightmares but the I-Rex herself just looks silly. I don't see a monster here I see something that looks like someone just made a larger Raptor and I just don't find that scary.

Thus allow me to introduce the Ultimasaurus.

Introduced during the Hybrid JP era (yeah that was a thing) the US was one of the last toys made for the line before it was shut down do to low sales and even then we only got the baby version of the Dino. However, this animal remained popular with fans due to her unique design and the idea of there being a Dinosaur more dangerous then the T-Rex (this was well before Jurassic Park 3 came out) and she had one of the more over the top designs.

As you can see she's a cross between the T-Rex, the triceratops and while it's not shown clearly here she also has stegosaurus, raptor and ankylosaurus in her design.

Now THAT'S a Hybrid and as shown with this AMAZING Model it would likely be a memorable Dino and frankly I think she looks better then the other Hybrids we've seen in the films. While the Spinosaurus has gone on to become a fan favorite the I-Rex and the Indoraptor just don't have a lot going for them as their just bigger versions of the Raptors we've come to know from the other films and as a result I don't think their all that memorable.

But the Ultimasaurus, now THAT'S a design I can not only get behind but this is the only Hybrid I would actually buy was a match or superior to the T-Rex. At the very least I could buy that she could survive Rexy's bite due to her thicker sink and armor plating.

Adding I-Rex's skills from the film along with the terrifying concept of this thing being as smart of the Raptors in the films or as Smart as the T-Rex might have actually been (along with all of the T-Rex's other abilities) and you have a winner for coolest Dino that never existed and never even got an actual toy.

Instead we got a Dino that's, for me at least, is rather lackluster for all the buildup she gets.

Kinda starts to resemble a dragon. Could be cool.

Between the irex, the spinosaurus, and the t-Rex, I don’t feel there’s much of physical distinction for cinematic differentiation. Jurassic park 3 it was okay because I felt like I was learning about new dinosaurs, but the irex is more speculative, to say the least.

Then there was the camouflage trait, which neither dinosaur parent of the irex had. They did OK making the monster smart, but I think that’s a lot more of what they needed.

Not really finding this any more scary than any other dinosaur. In fact, I find this one silly looking, trying too hard to be ̶p̶̶o̶̶i̶̶n̶̶t̶̶y̶ edgy. The true horror of dinosaurs comes from being at their mercy, while they are natural predators and you're in their environment, underarmed and lacking tools. Dinosaurs in any modern environment are one pull of the trigger away from being the main course for a barbeque, no matter how many spikes and horns they have.

Cinematically it would be distinctive, but mainly just to look at.

If you’re adding to the dinosaur trauma, then he could definitely tear shit up with those horns, but yeah it doesn’t take the movie to new places really.
