Jurassic World Dominion Should Have Been a Video Game

Post by Winter »

I was going over a few scenes from JWD yesterday and as I was watching them I kept thinking to myself "Why wasn't this made into a Video Game."

Not only would there be more time to fleshout the better ideas of the film but many of these scenarios would be great to actually play through. Sneaking away from a blind Dinosaur that will kill you if it finds you, a chase through a city while being pursued by Raptors, a knife fight in a pit while Dinos cause chaos all around you, a fight with a Raptor that can swim. Admit it this would be amazing to play in a game.

It have to be reworked where we only follow one character through the story as switching perspectives can disrupt the flow of a game but it could be done.

Hell, if I'm to be honest you could combine Dominion and Fallen Kingdom into a single game and with a little bit of rewriting it could be made into a good or even great story while changing very little.

Thoughts?

I think you found part of the problem with that whole trilogy: it's written like a mediocre action video game.

The TellTalle Games Jurassic Park game is still the best sequel the original film has had. And I'm not a big fan of their games, post-BTTF.

I would argue that Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is the best sequel in the series and that the TellTale Game's Jurassic Park is just okay.

I would also argue that the story for JW2 and JW3 have good ideas just poorly executed... Okay VERY Poorly Executed! Really the problem is the stories need more time and that can be done more easily in a game then a film.

On that note I'm taking back what I said before as thinking it over Fallen Kingdom would be better suited as a standalone game with the majority of it taking place on the island as the Volcano begins to tear the island apart. This forces you to contend with mercenaries, Dinos and the environment itself but the longer runtime, or playtime in this case, also could give us a chance to catch our breath. The finally would then take place in the Mansion with the Indoraptor as the final boss and the Dinosaurs being released into the world.

As I said there is a good ideas here it just needs to be given room to breath and it needs someone to go over the script to help flesh out the ideas more. The only issue is the release of the Dinosaurs as it was, without a doubt, the dumbest moment in the film and one of the stupidest moments in the series but that's an easy fix, just have Wu be the one who releases them because he can't bare to see his creations die.

This would actually help to give him more character development and give him a stronger arc come Dominion due to the ethological disaster he's created. Maisie can still have an identity crisis, who wouldn't, but she shouldn't be the one to unleash this on the world because "They're like me."
