And Should it Dissolve because, well, it's just regular webbing.
That has happened more than once in the comics and I was just wondering if it that will happen in the games. It actually could be rather funny, Cindy is getting ready for her first real Hero "Assignment" and she meets up with Peter and Miles in gem shorts and a tank top and both are like "Uh, Cin, where's you're costume?" and Cindy goes "This is my costume". Then she webs on her outfit before swinging off to where the action is only to focus on Peter and Miles for a bit and Peter is "Oh this is not going to end well" while Miles slowly shakes his head in disbelief at what his sister is about to do.
Then soon after the first mission is over her suit starts to dissolve and Cindy is confused and looks at Peter and Pete is facepalming and goes "Yeah, remember when I said that webbing will dissolve after a few hours?". And than Cindy, realizing what this means, panics and then bolts it out of there before her suit completely dissolves and exposes her identity on her first mission.
And THEN she decides to make a proper suit, something more basic for right now (that way her actually outfit can have a dramatic reveal like Peter got with the White Spider Suit and Miles got with his outfit in his game). Peter and Miles, being good brothers, assure her it's nothing to be TO ashamed about as they've done some pretty stupid things in the past too.
I doubt Cindy's original web outfit will be in the game due to how unpopular (though I wouldn't be surprised if it was a bounce outfit you could unlock) but if they do decide to include it I think it would be funny to point out the problem with it.
Silly Question Time: Should Cindy Moon aka Silk's First Outfit be her Webbed On Look from the Comics?

Note: I have not read her comic.
Couldn't this costume be a good thing though? From what Marvel has written on the webbing it is so strong it would be cut and potentially bullet proof. Flame resistant, yet flexible enough for proper wear. A few hours of patrol is a good amount of time. Whole thing dissolves, get a shower and there is no evidence of a costume to be found. No repairs, no laundry.

I think maybe for a few minutes when we first meet her, or as an unlockable skin but don't force her to spend most of the game in it.

From what I understand webbing only lasts for about 2 hours which has been mostly consistent throughout the series. The quality of the webbing on the other hand is a lot harder to narrow down. Sometimes it does all the things you said other times it can barely hold up two people and will snap if Peter tries to carry more then three. Sometimes it's resistant to fire other times it's vulnerable to fire and so on.Nealithi wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 8:56 pm Note: I have not read her comic.

The real issue here though is what the webbed suit represents. As I've mentioned before Cindy was hugely unpopular when she first appeared and her webbed suit was a huge part of why she was so disliked. It was so, as the comics themselves pointed out and fans were found of bringing up at every opportunity, tacky looking. She literally just webbed herself up (no jokes please I've heard them all before) and it looks ridicules. There is no style to this look, the people working on the comic just did it because they thought it looked sexy which sadly was the main selling point for the character, to make her sexually appealing her personality could come later.
Her original creator was ashamed of how he wrote Cindy and has been nothing but supportive of the changes made to her, never once saying anything bad about changing her character. And it's very notable one of first things Marvel did when they began revamping her character was to get her out of her webbed suit and into something more, well, good.

The overall point of this post was to just joke about the idea of the webbed suit being used. I'm pretty sure it will only be an unshockable bounce outfit but if used it would be funny if they poked fun at the outfit for all the reasons fans disliked it. That it can only last for 2 hours and it just looks tacky with maybe even a jab at Miles for his evolved suit in SM2.

That was supposed to be attractive?
I can see the issue on controversy if she was meant to just be cheesecake. (Though oddly I think the proper suit is more attractive).
Still this is one of her costumes. If everyone else is in their alternates then she should have it as well. Even if it looks like bandages to me.

I'm sure it made sense to someone at the time but I remember an interview and Dan Slott (the guy who created her after he apologized for doing a shit job at writing her) saying that the basic idea behind the web suit was to invoke a sexy scenario mindset. Basically the thought was young boys would think of being with Silk as her suit dissolved and fill in the blanks from there.Nealithi wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 5:50 am That was supposed to be attractive?

Though I also heard that higher-ups honestly thought it looked cool & unique and that there was no intention of sex appeal so who knows. Honestly I think the former is the case given how much they emphasized Peter and Cindy's sexual relationship instead of her actual character.
