Much better, more atmospheric, dark and foreboding, the characters and word look AMAZING (best in the series TBH) the combat looks amazing and the movements look very fluid. Honestly, THIS is how Veilguard should have been introduced because it feels closer to what fans of the series expected of the game.
I will say I do have one outstanding issue with the game, which is something I was dreading since Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem which is an overuse of auto-dialogue and a more minimalistic Dialogue Wheel. I get it's easier on the developers and allows scenes to be more cinematic with a more active camera which can help keep the momentum going more smoothly in a lot of scenes. But in an RPG I prefer having as much control over my character as possible which is why I love the DW in Dragon Age: Inquisition so much because it gave me a lot more control over my character.
I will say that I will be willing to overlook it if the rest of the game is good and if the choices we can make do have an impact on the story. Take for example The Witcher 3, that game had a ton of Audi-Dialogue with a minimal amount of chance to control Geralt when you really get down to it but that was more acceptable because Geralt was a per-established character and all choices had to be made that would fit his character.
Rook is a character we create and I was really hoping that after Balder's Gate 3 that BioWare would allow more control over our characters. I will reserve judgement until the game is out but I really hope that at least in more quite moments that we're given more control over our character.
Also, not a fan of the name Rook. The name for our other characters were a honestly a lot more interesting, The Warden, Hawke and Inquisitor all sound a lot cooler with Hawke being the overall best. And now we've got Rook. Hopefully it's just a starting name and we'll get a cool sounding title later in the game.
Other then that this is a good start and gives a much better impression of the game we're going to get. I'll miss being able to switch between characters and having 3 party members but the world looks amazing, the characters look amazing, the gameplay looks like a lot of fun and the story shows a lot of promise.
Just compared to BioWare's other game reveals this looks a lot better than MEA and Anthem's gameplay reveals with a good showcasing of the gameplay and giving us a good look at the game's story. Here's hoping that rest of the marketing is this good because then DAV has a real shot at saving BioWare.
