Which Character are you Looking Forward to Romancing the most in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Post by Winter »

I mentioned a while ago that when it comes to romance options in RPG games I tend to have more limited options due to playing as a lesbian. I don't dislike men or anything it's just not the way I swing but this has often meant that I get, at most, 2 options in most games that give me a choice to romance any character I want.

To just look at BioWare games that let me romance women as a woman that gave me one in Knights of the Old Republic, One in Mass Effect 1 and 2, two in Mass Effect 3, Two in Mass Effect: Andromeda, One in Dragon Age: Origins, Two in Dragon Age 2 and Two in Dragon Age: Inquisition. At best I could flirt with a few minor characters but when it came to full romance my options were limited.

As such I'm so existed to be able to romance the ladies in Dragon Age: The Veilguard as that gives me Four options and all of them are very tempting for me. Taash is the one I'm most existed for even though I'm not overly found of her new design but she was the one I wanted to get to know the most and I'm still VERY interested in romancing her.

After Taash I would say that Neve is the second one I'm most interested in romancing. What can I say, she's sassy, sexy and has a great design and I can't wait to romance her. And of course there's Lacy Harding whom I always flirted with in DAI so being able to properly romance her is something I'm like REALLY existed for. Bellara sadly goes in last place but that's only because I know next to nothing about her but from what little I have seen I might be in love with her too.

Honestly I'm just happy that I have FOUR options to romance. I can not only flirt with but have a fully committed relationship with ALL the women on my team and not having the game say "No, she's not into you." And even if the romance with some or all of them aren't as great as I hope the fact that I can find out if we work or not is something I'm loving the idea of.

But who are you most interested in romancing in DAV? I know a lot of fans are already eyeing up Emmrich but which character are you most interested in?

What?

Winter wants quality lesbian romances? I never would have guessed form her posts!

The Devil you say!

Sadly, I do not feel Bioware has its old magic anymore. There will never be another Leliana or Morrigan.

They could bring back Talis but I don't think she's coming either.

Well of course we can't have another Leliana or Morrigan that would require cloning them and then we'd have to explain why he cloned them and then in comes the whole morality of cloning and it just gets really awkward.

All joking aside I want to focus on your second point that the old BioWare Magic is gone, well to quote Mark Darrah who's worked on the other games and is working as a creative consultant and has had nothing but praises for DAV and this is a direct quote "BioWare Magic is Bullshit."

He was also critical of the handling of Anthem and MEA. This is not someone who minces words and doesn't suffer fools gladly so if he's confident in the game I'm willing to give it a chance.

Also the lead director for DAV is a transwoman, Corinne Busche, which makes me REALLY hope this game does well just to see idiots online whine because yet another LGBT game with creative control given to a transwoman and have that game be a hit with critics and gamers alike.

Obviously I have a lot invested in this game not the least of which it was one my dad was really looking forward to before he passed away so I want it to be great just for him.

Well fingers crossed but I can't help but feel like so much of what made the games so amazing was in the writers.

But I hope Corinne gets to make sure her artistic vision is achieved.

I am just one of those old grognards who loved Origins because it was Lord of the Rings/Game of Thrones. Dragon Age: Inquisition was nothing like either.

For me DAI was like both, in fact Wicked Eyes, Wicked Hearts is a mission that feels like it was lifted straight out of GOT. Though I started the series with DAI and honestly I had more fun with that game then Origins. Origins is great but there are a lot things that kind bug me.

Orzammar is WAAAY to long, I think it's like 10 hours which and most of it feels like padding. Oghren in the base game is insufferable and someone I actively dread having to deal with (he makes Sera look well behaved). Morrigan makes no sense to me, I get that she's suppose to be someone who is the token evil teammate and disapproves anytime we do something good or seek to help people but she often boarders or flat out falls into Stupid Evil when she herself notes that they need an army to fight the Dark Spawn only to complain when we try to do everything to get an army.

For me, DAI didn't have a lot of these issues. No quest overstays it's welcome, there is no character I find as annoying as Oghren (again I like Sera) and when someone disapproves of what I do it at least makes sense. Morrigan makes a lot more sense as while she has some morals now she's still mostly out for herself and thus frames her arguments in such a way that sound reasonable but but only serve her ends when you really think about it.

As always this is just how I see things but I prefer DAI over DAO as I feel it has all that strengths of Origins but without any of the things that bugged me.
