Over the course of the last 28 years Lara has had no less then 3 father figures in her life.
Her Biological father Richard Croft (originally named Henshingly Croft) her Surrogate father/Butler Winston and her second surrogate father Conrad Roth a friend of Richard who raised Lara after her parents deaths.
With the series trying to move towards a more unified continuity I wonder how these characters are going to be handled as they relate to Lara's character and each other. As I mentioned in the Origin stories of Lara I prefer the idea of Lara having loving parents who are the ones that ignite her passion for history and thus directing her to become the Tomb Raider and having them tragically pass away with Lara's mother dying first which then sparks a life long obsession of the supernatural for Richard which carries over to Lara soon after Richard dies.
But that then leads to the next big question, what about Roth and Winston?
Both characters serve the same role, they are Lara's father after she loses Richard but both are very different characters. While Richard is the one who inspires Lara to become an archeologist Roth inspires her love for adventure. He's the one who teaches her how to fight, how to hunt and how to survive and gives his life to save Lara which leaves Lara alone.
Winston on the other hand is basically Alfred from Batman. He's the one who gives sagely advice to Lara and is her longest and most faithful ally who's there for her and is eternally Patient and always willing to listen to her.
So, the question here is does Lara need three different father figures in her life? Should Roth and Richard being combined into a single character or should Roth be removed altogether? Or does Roth add something else to Lara's character and should Winston be removed? Winston has been largely absent from the series for about 16 tears at this point only really showing up briefly at the end of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, a brief flashback/hallucination in The Legend of Lara Croft and getting a few documents by him in Rise of the Tomb Raider DLC Blood Ties.
He has yet to make any real kind of comeback despite being a mainstay of the series while Roth's death was a major part of the first season of TLOLC.
As I've mentioned before I'm not that big a fan of the series as a whole so anyone who is a fan let me know your opinion on this, I'd like to know.

Re: Discussing Lara Crof's Fathers
I feel like one of the worst developments of the reboot timeline is making her a Daddy's girl obsessed with following his legacy.
It was in the original Angelina Jolie movie but here, it overwhelms her and removes her agency.
