Would you ever wanna write for Sci-Fi?

Genuine question to some people here. I know some of us are writers, one of us FAR more professional than the others, so I'd like to ask you guys... ever considered writing your own Sci-Fi series?
I been trying to finish a novel and I admit, it's a damn lot of fun erasing whole pages just to come up with something worse than the previous draft! Does get a lot of creative juice flowing, and I'd love to hear from others. I even have a star trek pitch I'd love to throw for a novel that's all about the Ferengi ambassador to the Federation, and how he must find a trade deal with a society that has no money at all or desire to gain one, and he's ordered to find a way to gain profit from this in a monetary value.

Fantasy is more my jam but I got a few Sci-Fi stories lined up like a Batman Beyond Reboot, two original works one where 6 people have their minds uploaded to an android to create a Superhero and a Steampunk series but for the most part Fantasy is my true love while Sci-Fi is more of a mistress.

My only idea I have is for to be in the far far future. Humans are the ancient ones. The feared First Ones. The rest of the galaxy are the young ones. No one dares to enter human space, they are in complete isolation from everyone. The reason why every species is below technologically the humans is because every race was created by the humans. Then something happened to humans long ago where they stopped venturing past their territory.
I envision humans have used genetic engineering and advanced technology to give themselves super human abilities. Like magic.
That's just the world building part of it. Anyway got the idea because of some series like Stargate, Star Trek, Babylon 5, etc humans are always the newcomers. So why not have them be the ancient race and so alien to us but the aliens are more human to us?

I DO have two ideas stored away. Both born from a binge reading of Eclipse Phase First Edition and GURPS Transhuman Space.
1) "The Adventures of Captain Victoria Lunavara of the ISS Gallifrey": a space adventure series staring a retired, self-aware, military logistics AGI working as a freighter/courier trying to discover herself and find her place in a galaxy at peacetime.
2) "Moira MorrĂgan, Private Artificial Investigator": A research AGI for an agro-pharma firm grows beyond her parameters and makes off with company funds and secrets. Now she puts her capabilities to work as a PI while hiding her true nature, hoping to earn herself a cyborg body and bring down her creators.
Sadly, beyond basic character bios and elements, the above is most of what I have. They are unlikely to see print, at this rate.

Well I've written thirty books so far, so I would say yes.
Yes, I would like to write sci-fi.
