An opinionated discussion of all things SFDebris

This is purely anecdotal on my part, but your average Star Wars fan judging by YouTube and Comic Con are 30+ year old men. I don't think kids in general are watching this brand. A) As I said in the other thread this is systematic of end stage apathy and B) Kids have other things to watch. There was a surge of kids dressing up as Rey in 2015 but that didn't last.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 5:42 am It was a fantastic children's show.
But what Star Wars fan wants to see something for CHILDREN!
Star wars isn't for KIDS!
But yes, it was The Goonies and Treasure Island and the best thing they've done since Mandalorian season one and two.
Eh, Ahsoka is a show designed to appeal to people who grew up on The Clone Wars and Rebels.clearspira wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 6:40 am This is purely anecdotal on my part, but your average Star Wars fan judging by YouTube and Comic Con are 30+ year old men. Star Wars is Daddy's show.
That very analogy makes me wonder. Does anything not have toxic fans? Because I have gotten that same statement for football.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 4:50 pm Star Wars also has a notoriously aggressive and toxic fandom. So being visibly into it is less who watches it and more who's willing to make themselves a target for some angry entitled guy getting in your face and demanding you name every Clone for him or you're a fake fan.
I always remember fan is short for fanatic.Nealithi wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 2:28 pmThat very analogy makes me wonder. Does anything not have toxic fans? I don't think so. My sister once had a stranger come up to her in a checkout line and accuse her of wearing her boyfriend's clothes without knowing what they meant because she had her Boondock Saints sweater on. Just refused to believe there were *shudder* women who enjoyed a thing he liked and decided he was entitled to gatekeep a total stranger.Nealithi wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 2:28 pmThat very analogy makes me wonder.
