You want my whole list or... Hell, a few of my game concepts:
A Duke-Nukem-esque Boomer Shooter featuring a gruff Scotsman saving his scientist boyfriend from an army of robots.
A Stylish Action game about a private detective fighting the Cthulhu Mythos for his totally-not-a-Mask-of-Nyarlathotep benefactor.
A side-scrolling action RPG set in the Kingdom Hearts universe with a focus on the few Canon films KH hasn't touched yet (Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Princess & the Frog, Rescuers/Mouse Detective) and the TV cartoons (Rescue Rangers, Ducktales, Darkwing, Gravity Falls, Owl House, Amphibia), and Mary Poppins (because I want her umbrella as a keyblade).
A full remake of Parasite Eve heavily inspired by Resident Evil Remake 2/4.
A proper CRPG based on Call of Cthulhu and using the Basic Roleplaying system.

Re: Your Dream Game
Define CRPG in this context. Eye of the Beholder-style Dungeon Crawler? Disco Elysium overhead Baldur's Gate-alike? Diablo-style Action RPG? Ignoring the BRS-requirement, there are a few coming to mind I'd recommend.ProfessorDetective wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 7:46 pmA proper CRPG based on Call of Cthulhu and using the Basic Roleplaying system.
Darkest Dungeon, Sinking City, Sunless Sea. All else failing, there's also "Cthulu Saves the World". Also if "based on Cthulhu" is allowed some leeway into "existentially dready": Signalis, System Shock (1, 2, Remaster, but particularly 2) and that one game that was released just recently but escapes my damn mind even after looking for it... I suppose I should recommend that one in particular, because it clearly left so much trauma, that my mind intentionally avoids me remembering it...
Also, if you're "just" looking for something that will haunt your mind for the rest of your life: This War of Mine. Don't need to escape into Lovecraftian fiction, when true existential horror is endured by houndreds of thousands of people on this plane of reality every living day and there's your chance to catch a glimpse that'll stay with you for the rest of your life.
"If you get shot up by an A6M Reisen and your plane splits into pieces - does that mean it's divided by Zero?

Baldur's Gate-alike. When I say CRPG, I usually mean BG, Fallout, Pillars, Kingmaker, or Disco.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 8:14 pmDefine CRPG in this context. Honestly, Disco Elysium would be my first point of reference, being the Investigative Mystery CRPG.
