You think dicks are people too, yet nihilists aren't?
I don't like the current widened mainstream definition.
There is little difference between atheism and nialism. If there is no God or gods, then there is no designed purpose behind the universe. We are all a fluke that came into being through a random series of events. And I think that scares a lot of people.

Nihilism is more postmodern about establishment and institution. The traditional philosophy of it from the pre-20th century will consider theological parameters in accordance to rational social and personal introspection concerning directive, but modern day introspective psyche texts stemming from Sigmund Freud have a good deal of account as far as our psycho/social inclinations to faith and its dark side of cognitive bias. In other words, Nietzsche asserted that God is dead, but was still using the word God to incorporate his sociological assessment of religion.
Atheism is just rejection of the cosmological deity. It seems essentially theologian and largely limited in the broad scheme of institutionalization and establishment of religion.

Khaless would rather die than live under Molor's tyranny.
In terms of religious view, I'm pseudo-Christian/spiritual/agnostic. Kinda.

My cat Alfonso loved hot dogs. I miss him. RIP Alfonso. Not even joking. We cut them up for him, and the little guy ate them.

Yeah there's a huge world of difference between atheism and nihilism.
Atheism just means there is no supernatural or divine source of moral authority and cosmic order. Nihilism is straight up "Nothing in life matters, there is no meaning or order to anything". Atheism still allowed for self-determined meaning and humanity's agency as rational beings.
