Except James Bond isn't even recast.

But of course clearspira doesn't help matters with his clickbait thread title.
How is it clickbait? I think this franchise has jumped the shark. Doesn't mean you can't come back from it, in fact, it has happened before. Moonraker anyone?
But for now, we are well into go woke go broke and it amazes me just how often producers think this shit is going to make them money only to make a surprised Pikachu face when it doesn't.
It's clickbait because it doesn't reflect what they are doing and makes people think that they are turning Bond into woman when they are just giving 007 codename for new MI6 agent who happens to be woman. Do you really want to make stupid people that get outraged over every little thing that seems to threaten they comfort zone think that when you know that they don't bother to do research about these things and act irrationally. Oh right, I forgot you belong to those people.

That is other people's problem what they think: ''the new 007 is a woman'' is a factually accurate statement.

Technically accurate, but still misleading and YOU should know better, especially since many have misinterpreted it that way across social media.

More people are inevitably going to interpret “new 007 is now a woman” as “James Bond is now a woman” as opposed to the more factual “after Bond quit in the last movie, a new supporting character was given the 007 number”.

Also kinda depends on what you consider jumping the shark to connote. James Bond retiring isn't so much a jumping the shark measure. Then there's the focus character. 007 being the running title of the movie, if it was a cold turkey swap, then expecting the same semblance features that constitute a Bond film would make the film have to walk a tightrope and could come off as bit overly brazen to lots.
..What mirror universe?

Well, we'll see won't we. Just don't be surprised if either in this film or the next they pull a Mad Max 4 and have the titular character barely in it.

Just don't forget to cheer when she puts those horrible men in their place.

Starting with Bond and his "toxic masculinity", no doubt. ;)

"Toxic masculinity" is real - but then, so is toxic femininity.

Meh, it's the same "this is the downfall of the Bond-franchise" that it has always been, whenever a new actor is introduced. And personally, even Daniel Craig is my least favourite Bond-actor, even his films got tolerable in the end.

Why don't we just wait and see, if this "guy who can kick all sorts of ass" cannot be turned into a "woman who can kick all sorts of ass"?

Because a certain brand of masculinity defined Bond.

"brand masculinity"? Do you mean "Bond defined masculinity"? It most certainly did not define mine.
