Don't get old, kids, don't get old

I went for my annual eye test on Saturday and my optician/optometrist (please tell me below which version you prefer) said that I'm close to the age where my eyes become presbyopic.

This is when the lens in your eye loses its flexibility so it can't adjust shape to change focus any more and it happens to everyone from a certain age.

I'm also about 5 years away from getting to the age where my risk of developing glaucoma increases (and there's family history of it).

I'm also getting new glasses (I meant to do that last year since my prescription had changed enough to warrant it but life got in the way) - at least I'm picking them up next Saturday :D

Pro tip my friends: don't get old. Just don't get old.

How close are we to full on replaceable robot eyes? I don't wear contacts ... but I would totally get robot eyes.

Getting old sucks, but it beats the hell out of the alternative

Puberty hit me with a need for glasses and now I'm getting to the point where it is increasingly hard to focus on really close items too - which is fun because at least I could see 6 inches in front of my face clearly and I'm losing that. At least my father's Retinitis Pigmentosa seems to not be smacking me sideways, nor have I needed to have cataracts removed yet like he did, so yay I guess.

But getting older means you are still in the game, still playing.
