What would it mean for movies? What would really change?

People said TV would kill Cinema, but it's still here.

Ultimately, it will be good for niche movies through the streaming services, and turn theatres -even more so than they are today- into humdrum places that all show the same set of mass-market films. Hardly the death of the art, but possibly the death of the 12-plex.

There will always be a market for this theaters. You know, cause Opera and Theater still exist, they just shuffled demographics. Movie theaters will probably become more cosmopolitan, more of an night out event, a step away from over charging for pop corn and garbage food.

More cosmopolitan? What does that mean in this case. I never say anyone kicked out for ethnic or race reasons.

Certain niche movies could show up in theaters because people crowdfund the tickets since streamers are starting to allow movie downloads.

I don't think he means anyone is kicked out. In fact the term generally means one views all of humanity as one group. It's meant to imply cultured inclusiveness, I think.

Movie starts are like people coming out of the random generator. We don't have them anymore, but ticket drawers are like that. There will never be a perfect correlation between ticket drawers and the demographic or even regular ticket buying demographics. All of humanity does not view humanity as one group. trust me, just look at gun laws, minority rights, freedom of speech rights etc...

This has more to do with it becoming a thing in every country. Remember that China is still considered a new market, even though they have had a domestic film industry for decades. What I am saying is that Movie Theaters will become a different experience from what they are now (a room of noisy strangers ruining my movie watching) to something else, but they will also be everywhere.

I don't think most self identified Cosmopolitans are like that at all. They are insular in their thinking the same way a lot of people they hate are. How will cinema be more cosmopolitan if it will be a more a night out event? What's the connection. So if they become a different experience why will they be everywhere? I assume the screen needs to still be a certain size.
