If you've seen The Right Stuff, Apollo 13, or From the Earth to the Moon, you're probably familiar with much of the history of the Apollo program. All of those works give us a clear view of the hotshot, cowboy pilots... but we hardly seem to hear from the quiet fellow who took the top prize.
First Man is a more contemplative view of the space age. Neil Armstrong deals with introversion, failure, and grief on his way to the moon. Janet Armstrong takes on the mounting burden of staying behind.
The film makes effective use of silence and solitude, while also depicting the legendary sorties of X-15 #3, Gemini 8, and Apollo 11. A worthwhile watch, and perhaps something that may get noticed at the Oscars, as well.

Re: First Man (2018)
I don't like the director, so I am probably not going to bother.
