Agreed. Unfortunately the animated movies have their own ghetto so as not to have to get involved with making people recognize animation as a medium that competes with other movies. But the Academy hates animation anyway - voice acting is something the proper actors do for a bit of cash or for the grandkids and not true acting after all...

I think general audiences don't really have a basis of judgement for what earns an Oscar.

I kinda think the Oscars as some pinnacle judgement are silly. Take, like, a mall. Everybody who works in the mall votes on the best clothing department store, best fashion retailer, best shoe store, best provider of sportswear... I mean you gotta imagine and assume that each voter kinda shops at all of these kind of stores, but that does kinda make sense with movies. Still though it's kind of out of touch with general audiences that go by more impressionable standards.

Pixar can suck the darkest part of Spider Ham's unwiped ass. B)

I would have liked to see Black Panther take Best Picture, but I haven't seen the movie that did win so I shouldn't judge. Glad they got the award for best costumes though, they really earned that.

Because I think Black Panther was excellent, and the costumes were effin gorgeous. It was such a nice change of pace to see a superhero movie with a color palette that extended beyond "steel grey" and "sodium light orange".

I don't think Black Panther was that distinct in pallette contrasting a lot of the stuff in Phase 3.
