Warhammer 40,000 Thread

Because 40k is so close to my heart (I have been fan since 3rd edition) I made this thread so that all possible 40k fans on this forum have thread were to talk about that miniature wargame and it's universe that they love as well as possible army projects that they have going on.
Of course I will apologize if this isn't right place for it because I have no intend to argue with admins and mods over thread.
So let's start this. I am currently working around Death Guard army with 1 squad of Plague Marines and 2 Plagueburst Crawlers still waiting assembly until I am ready to prime them and rest of models that I have for Death Guard with Death Guard Green spray paint. I will try to get those ready until new Sisters of Battle codex and models hit game stores.

It really should be in "Sci-Fi & Fantasy." With that said, this would be a great thread!
I'm still absorbing the lore. I got a long way to go. A VERY long way.

Well if Off-topic is wrong place for this then I am more than happy if any of admins or mods chooses to move this thread to Sci-Fi & Fantasy. That said when I made this thread I was thinking that Off-topic could be fitting place for this considering that lore is only one part of 40k with rest being all other aspects of hobby (modeling, painting, creating army lists and playing game on tabletop) if that makes any sense.

I always found the Warhammer 40k lore rather easy to comprehend: Everyone is evil and if someone appears to be reasonable and nice, they are 100% certainly either hiding a really dark secret or preparing to stab you in your back once you stopped looking too closely. It's one of the few settings, where the Alien-hating Space Nazis are the closest aproximation to the good, reasonable and sensible guys you can get.

Oh I can pretty much grasp what (most) of the races are thus far, but there's also tons of games, novels, and time periods to reach out and absorb too. That's what I was talking about.

To be fair some one once said that in 40k universe Tau are closest to good guys and they are an authoritarian collective that are more than happy to have you join in as long as you are willing to follow The Greater Good that's they ideal. But for most Imperium of Man is closest to good guys by just being human faction which is understandable. How ever personally I feel that 40k doesn't have any good guys and I find that that's beauty of it because it allows players to see they chosen faction to be one that's right. Yes it's very British instead of more American that in turn least to me seems to have clear cut between good guys and bad guys but 40k and it's lore are British creation.

I am aware of the "no good guys in 40K" thing that that universe is. What fascinates me is the Tyranids. Also the C'tan, and stuff revolving around the War in Heaven. I'm also downloading as much of the Horus Heresy novels I can so I can read 'em.
I wonder what a crossover between The Culture, Xeelee Sequence, and Warhammer 40,000 would be like...?

Tau and the Greater Good. A brainwashed species controlled by a small caste (The Etherals), which is happily brainwashing aliens to join their space empire (Vespids) or using them as meat-shields (Kroot, argueably any Gue'vesa formations as well) and who subtley sterilize and euthanize any non-Tau population who joined them and who are not immediatly useful as cannon-fodder. Yup, the good guys.

Don't you think that it kinda proves the point that there are no good guys in 40k when that's closest to that there is. And no, I am not saying that anyone claims that Tau are good guys just that they are closest to that while also being horrible just like everyone else.
Personally I see Eldar (Craftworld) to be least bad. After all they just want to survive while fighting Chaos God that wants they souls. Granted that they are willing to do what ever it takes but they are only race in 40k that's able to work with Imperium of Man when ever it fits them. I mean High Priestess of they God of Death did play her part in bringing Roboute Gulliman back who then took charge and went against Forces of Chaos with his new super Space Marines.

Question, with the exception of obviously Nyarlathotep, Yog-Sothoth, and of course, Azathoth, does anyone feel that the Chaos Gods could be comparable to the Outer Gods?
