Movie Nights, "Encounter at Farpoint"

Post by Rocketboy1313 »

This is a youtuber I have been watching for ages, she is also a former channel awesome contributor.
But a while back she started occasionally doing Star Trek reviews, and she decided to do "Encounter at Far Point" calling it one of the worst pilots ever. I think she makes some pretty good jokes in this.

I cannot get the video to post here, but there you go with the link.

She talks about in a previous Trek review how she got into the franchise and she has now seen EVERYTHING, but she started with "Enterprise" because she was a fan of "Quantum Leap". Which I guess shows the wisdom of casting Scott Bakula when you think about it, cause his star power pulled in viewers I guess.

Surely she must be exaggerating.

Exaggeration on the internet? Surely you jest.
The past tempts us, the present confuses us, the future frightens us. And our lives slip away moment by moment lost in that vast, terrible in-between.

She makes a good point about Groppler Zorn though. I wonder how he's doing in the Picard Universe...

Also somebody tell Lupa that this isn't exactly a movie.

Did she do a review of Threshold from Voyager? Holy hell that second season is such a disaster. I really wish Chuck could put the reviews back up. I’d pay for a Patreon if he had them on it.

She did!

This is a link to the full playlist, she has only done 8 episodes. And for whatever reason she put the playlist in reverse order, it starts with the most recent. Very strange.

Yeah, she mostly does "Baywatch" reviews and podcast format discussions about "Charmed".
Her brand is all over the place.

The space jellyfish came back because they got a laugh for how he reacted to them torturing him.

Would be interesting if they did bring him back. Actor is still alive (81 now), and has done a few other Star Trek roles.

Yeah, I just saw the notification. Great video. Why DOES the trial look like a weird Space Thunderdome thing?

IIRC, they explained in there it was around the time of World War 3 (during or maybe just after it but before First Contact) and they abolished lawyers for trials or something along those lines.
