Here's a little fun thread. I'm sure most, if not all of us, enjoy reading a good book, so thought I'd start this thread where people can recommend any good books they've read lately (or listened to in the case of audiobooks). Doesn't have to be a new book, can be anything that you've read/listened to and enjoyed recently and would recommend. And in the case of audiobooks, is there a particular version you'd recommend (as narrators can have a big impact on the quality of an audiobook).

And to save cluttering the forum with threads, feel free to mention any books you didn't like and would actively warn people against reading.

the series is am slogging through right now is the Malazaan Book of the Fallen. Be warned though Gardens of the moon won't really click until half way through and Toll the hounds takes purple prose trope to all new levels

I'm currently reading the late William Manchester's "The Death of a President", an account of the assassination of JFK that the historian wrote after being asked by JFK's widow.

I just finished "Stranger in a Strange Land" which has so many virtues, and so many issues that I love it and am venomously frustrated with it at the same time.

I am in a never ending holding pattern on "Trigger Warnings" and "Alice in Wonderland".

I am about ready to give up on "Neuromancer".

In most cases, I can at least see why a book is considered to be a classic, but I really didn't enjoy Neuromancer. Maybe it was groundbreaking in terms of the technical language used and some of the cyberpunk details, but it wasn't a fun read.

I'm currently reading Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov. Before that I read Orson Scott Card's latest Ender novel, The Swarm. I spent some of December and most of January reading War and Peace. A lot of effort, but it's easily one of the greatest novels I've ever read (a top three favorite, and maybe the best).

This is rapidly becoming my opinion. It is the most jargon heavy book I have ever read that wasn't actual reference material. Or the Silmarillion.

I like some future slang. Slag from "Beast Wars", Verse in "Firefly", Skin Jobs from "Bladerunner", and Sprawl in "Neuromancer" but good lord does it just have too much.

And I say that as a HUGE fan of "Stand Alone Complex".

Just finished reading Bridge of Birds by Barry Hughart. It's a fantasy story set in 7th century China. Started off a little weak, but it definitely improved as it went on and finished really strong.

I read volume 4 of XO Manowar graphic novel (the 2012 reboot) It more Sci Fi than comic book, but I haven't gotten to the Unity Crossover yet.

I just recently Read through the entire Honor Harington Series
for the 6th time
