Writing autonomy vs Worldbuilding

I mainly side for the latter, but I think mainly it's just a reaction to the former being more strongly represented by creative artists. I more often see people talk about how they don't want to just fit in the mold.
Like, Confused Matthew just detested the MCU along the lines of these principles, and people complain about MCU softening all the time.
Don't need to mention what happened with Star Wars and there autonomous directive. So where is the room for worldbuilding.

It might help the conversation if you explain what you mean by 'writing autonomy' and 'world building.'
I've never heard the former before, so I have no idea how it relates to the ladder. I know what 'world building' is, but you might be using it in a different context.

Not sure. Only person that comes to mind that I was thinking about was Patty Jenkins, but all she actually said was that she didn't really want to do an ensemble.

I was just watching all the 2nd season Netflix MCU shows and they all had a lot less cross interaction between the shows. Much less than the first time around.

I'm still not sure what you are talking about. Do you mean each writer/director doing their own thing, versus, everyone following a specific plan?

Yeah the MCU's one with the issues that people have had, fans and a director who said they weren't going to let her design a lot of action as a director.

Do you know, in which video Matthew did his "two razzie awards"-speach? I liked that - I mean, I'm not a big fan of his works, in especially concerning the "He knows what's good, what's bad, what's really bad" - but sometimes he gets a giggle out of me.
I'm just a plain, simple fanfic author, and I take my freedom of having both - writing autonomy and worldbuilding, using the worlds of Star Trek, Stargate, NCIS, Aladdin (yeah, it's a crossover, it's German and people here would propably say: it sucks ^^) as the backdrop of me using my own characters and explore other options besides "Starfleet Command says: Fly to Sector 222 and see what is happening there." ^^
So personally, I'd say: try both - use the characters, but do your own spin.

I took to his philosophy background. I had taken Philosophy of Mind in junior college, and his Matrix reviews in particular I had a lot of fun with.

Writing for your own story, as opposed to writing for the universe or saga.

I can see that. I mean you just need to read asbar to tell some writers are given stories and the higher ups don't even bother trying to make them do it in a way someone else could work with.
