What Happened Today?

Anything good?

Today I was walking and felt a little bug on my neck. Threw it off me with a bit of haste. Got down to see what it is and it turned out to be a tiny little scorpion!! Like almost the diameter of a pea, with a cute little long tail in the back.

Truth be told I was kind of unsettled as I thought it might has released some venom into my jugular, but just figured it probably wouldn't act fast enough to incapacitate me before I relayed the information to someone hopefully with enough time on their hands to make it useful.

Yesterday, a squirrel decided life was too hard and ran across the road and almost made it until it decided that my tire looked better.

Today, I set up a new phone for my Mom. I got her the Samsung A50. It's the economy model of the Galaxy S10. It's actually not bad. Even got her a nice Otter Box like case for it that was $9. It's actually not bad either. A bit on the heavy side though.

Tomorrow I am going to visit Aviation Institute of Maintenance tomorrow to finish my certification.

Saturday, my brother, my Dad and I are going to move the furniture back into the TV room for my Mom. During my downtime, I gutted out the room. It had wood paneling from the 60's. Now it's all drywall. My Mom choose nearly the same color of gray the drywall was too. Going to hang the brand new TV my Dad got. The old TV, a older plasma TV was jury rigged since the lone HDMI port was bad. So my Dad bought through my recommendation to buy a new one on Best Buy's anniversary.

Next week I am going to replace my bathroom door. The old one annoys me. It is older and expands with moisture every time I shower and takes more than a day for it to shrink back so I can close it. This time I am going to fully seal it.

Yeah it's tough figuring out what the moms is going to want. She mostly does her shopping on her own, but feels the need to talk about it. I ask questions like "what are you looking for?" and "well okay, do you want like a good camera?" and it tends to just make things worse.

I'm sure the birds will be proud to have you among them.

That's another thing I have to do for my mom. Thank you.

I'm a proponent now of keeping the bathroom fan on to move moisture in the air away from my hanging towels thus facilitating more passive drying.

Yeah a few years back I put my parents on my plan that included two basic smart phones that were free due to the plan. They work and my dinosaur Dad actually uses it now. But my Mom's is going bad. She didn't need a top of the line model so I went in the middle for the A50. Like I said I am impressed with it. Works like my own but a third of the price.

Problem is that my bathroom is in the middle of the house. So when they built it back in 1968 they never included a way to vent the moisture from the fan somewhere else. A few months back the fan died and I replaced it. Turns out that fan had no duct and was blowing right into the Insulation which made it a useless piece of bathroom tech.

Would definitely explain why my bathroom door expands and contracts like my waist line.

Yes. I'd like to read up on any ninja tricks off the beaten path you can do with stuff like that.

You know, like skylights that are a reflectively insulated tube that goes through your crawlspace to put a skylight in your buried room. On these hot days I would like to find some more effective way to cool down the damn house in the evening. It's somewhat cold outside but I'm sleeping in a damn sauna and pool of sweat.

Best I do is replace all of my light bulbs with LEDs and use curtains to prevent sunlight from heating the place up.

As far as the fan, all bathroom fans need some sort of duct or exit to push that humid air out. In the case of mine, no duct was installed so that original fan was blowing directly against the insulation. Which made the fan useless. Always wondered why the fan didn't do anything, well now I know.

Yeah I picked that up when you said it before. Stuff like that sucks, I lived in a kitchen that had a fan for the stove top but yeah hooked up to nothing. It's really just a spit of an insult to see it there.

Though in your case I bet you could just take a hack saw and make a 10 minute operative fix on it.

Funny thing, there is alot of kitchens with those overhead stove fans that really don't do shit because they don't exhaust anywhere. My own apparently had the capability until the previous owner redid the cabinets. But the hole for the exhaust was still there that led up to the roof. I did eventually put a duct there even if halved my space.

In my case as far as the bathroom exhaust fan. Unfortunately not. It would involve alot of ducting and alot of cutting. Including a concrete wall. Best I can do is either duct it far enough away from the bathroom or remove the fan altogether and paint it with a cleaning friendly paint. Like a gloss paint.
