My blog

On the old forum there was a section for user created content and I created a thread for whenever I posted something.
Feel no obligation to follow any of these links this is entirely for my own self indulgence. These are going to be highlights to get started.

In 2016 I did two 31-day blog challenges. Posting about a particular topic one day after another.
The first challenge was all about video games, here is a link to Day 1 "My Very First Video Game"
http://rocketboy1313.blogspot.com/2016/ ... -game.html

The second challenge was inspired by the Nostalgia Critics Disney-cember, So here is "Disney Blogs, Day Zero" and "My First Disney Movie"
http://rocketboy1313.blogspot.com/2016/ ... oyles.html
http://rocketboy1313.blogspot.com/2016/ ... movie.html

I have also begun writing a weekly Sunday entry about Dungeons and Dragons to help people to learn how to create their own world, difficulties I had with the 3rd and 4th editions of the game, and some first impressions of 5th edition.
Here is the first entry in that series "Dungeons and Dragons: Common"
http://rocketboy1313.blogspot.com/2017/ ... ommon.html

Here is the oldest thing I will post about, this is a novelette I wrote that is derivative even by the standards of horror.
"Hole in a Field, Chap 1"

Now that I have posted those, I will just post on this thing whenever I write something on my blog.
Again, feel no obligation to read what I am writing.

I did an entry the same day as this thread.
This is about the "Xanth" series by Piers Anthony, though mostly I just talk about my own vague self critical nostalgia for the books.

This is the 4th year I have been keeping track of how many words I have been writing.
And it is a lot more than the year before that.
3 times more.

I am going to start writing a few entries about making campaign worlds for Dungeons and Dragons.
This is mostly about borrowing elements from elsewhere.

I wrote a review of "Starship Troopers" by Robert Heinlein.
TLDR: Okay classic science fiction book dragged into the mud by a TERRIBLE performance.

A while ago I also wrote about "Stranger in a Strange Land".
This is also a book by Robert Heinlein.

You should check out some of the interesting French Science Fiction that is finally being made available in English by Black Coat Press

I wrote another book review of "NPCs" by Drew Hayes.
It is super meta and a good bit of fun.

If it pops up on Audible and has good ratings I will give it a shot. But I already have 20+ things on my wishlist, none of which are the sequels to the stuff I already like.

I continue to talk about building a campaign world in a high altitude and theoretical way. Borrowing from history rather than borrowing from fiction, and remembering to build in ambiguity to the setting so that it is flexible for all sorts of adventures.
This has to do with Dungeons and Dragons.
