Tough choice, but I think I have to go with "deeply bad for the industry" over "prolonged pattern of failure".

I've gained a bit of that impression, but "we'll chuck out crap and patch it in to acceptability later" isn't something that should be legitimised.

Still a heck of a lot better than, "Oh, you want a patch? Well here's Hard Mode DLC instead."
