So essentially I've got some large chunks of text that I'd like to put oon a Pastebin-esque platform and then keep editing and working on them;
they've got colors and B, I, U, S so far, though maybe text size etc. might be needed down the line;
and they're in BBCode format on a forum, which means I can either copy&paste it in code format onto another place that uses BBCode, or in formatted form onto various other places;
however platforms that use Markdown, such as those suggested in this article: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/4-alterna ... -pastebin/, probably wouldn't capture pasted formatting and would make me do all those Bolds and Italics let alone colors manually?
So yeah, a place where I could just paste those texts incl. formatting and then keep editing them, would be really cool;
and preferably not Google stuff like Drive or Docs, but something unrelated?
Looking for a Pastebin alternative with sufficient formatting options (best with BBCode, preferably not Markdown)?

I'd recommend Gist, but AFAIK there's no BBCode support. If you're set on requiring BBCode I'm afraid you're going to find your options limited. Markdown is generally lighter-weight and simpler, but since it sounds like you're pasting pre-existing text that's not really useful.

So noob problem here, googling "gist" results in info about the medical condition, and just adding "program" led to sth unrelated(?) as well; how do I search for it? Is it a site like pastebin?Deledrius wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 11:07 pm I'd recommend Gist, but AFAIK there's no BBCode support. (Btw searching for "gist site" led to info on "sites of metastasis", so didn't work here either... hm)

Notepad++ seems to be just an app for the computer though, right? Or is there an online version (with accounts and all) as well?
Gonna check out Onedrive next - though I'd kinda feel easier to avoid Microsoft on this aa well as Google (account interference and general privacy concerns, maybe unjustified though lol).

Yeah, but it does all kinds of code highlighting. There are even portable versions for use on USB.KitWargSpectacle wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 12:06 amNotepad++ seems to be just an app for the computer though, right? Or is there an online version (with accounts and all) as well?

With this particular project (video essay transcripts / analysis), I had a stupid data loss last year and am redoing it from scratch lol, so it being online and visible as I'm working on it is just to make it feel less Sisyphus lolTGLS wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 12:14 amYeah, but it does all kinds of code highlighting. Offline I'd otherwise just take Word/Office like the previous time; still, probably gonna come in handy in some other way, I'll go check it out.
