Favorite Coping Mechanisms

So yeah, how do ya'll cope?
One thing I've tried recently is opening the back door and screaming. Sadly, my throat gets dried out very quickly and I only can manage three high-volume screams before it degenerates into a hacking cough.
Alcohol is one of my less healthy coping mechanisms, and then there's The Other One that's even worse. Cooking is a good one but it takes some energy. Writing is the BEST for me, but it takes a lot of input energy and initial mental stability so it's out of reach when I need it most. Venting on the internet is a big thing, and there's always lots of angsty music. (No Children by Mountain Goats is a favorite.)
So how do you regulate your pulse, put off bad decisions, and generally reconcile yourself to the seething horrors of this world we live in? ^_^

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) was helpful in dealing with anxiety, some years ago my marriage was collapsing, I was in a foreign country with no friends, no support and my work was getting worse and worse. The most useful thing the NHS gave me was this:

It also helps to realize that most people aren't awful terrible people and that a lot of what you see as news is there to get your attention and/or whip you up into a scared state so you are easier to control. Maybe you'd be happier being ''uninformed''?

Video games! Soooooooo many video games. And books. Classic escapism, really.
But I've been hugely blessed in my life and so haven't had too many causes to really dive down the rabbit hole. There was a period just after the .com crash where I was unemployed for almost a year and my marriage got very rocky, and I found out the hard way that video games do not, in fact, serve as any kind of buffer against serious depression, which is awful. Fortunately I did eventually get a job and managed to pull out of that death spiral.
And man, Mountain Goats is a great band but go easy on No Children. That's some weapons-grade stuff. (I'm a Love Love Love man myself)

I just accept that some things are outside of my control, and that usually calms me down. The rest of the time a good cry works too.

Video games. When the world has gone to poo-ness, I can build a new one in Minecraft. One with blackjack and hookers.
Though, given the limitations of Minecraft, at least one of those will be a bit less satisfying.

...you know, I was trying to make a nice, neutral topic where everyone could get along.
I'm guessing you don't have any coping mechanisms to share?

I occasionally lapse into a depressive state and it becomes hard not to subject myself to retail therapy

Even if you like the way certain policies are going, can you HONESTLY say you don't see any horrors? The senseless mass shootings in places where we should be safe? Nazis with torches chanting "Jews will not replace us"? Getting wildfires, earthquakes, and rapid-fire series of tremendous hurricanes? None of this strikes you as "horrors"?
