Mothra Vs Godzilla

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Appreciate that Chuck goes into a lot of the behind the scenes work in these films. He could easily just put down, "One monster fights another monster. Some people spend their time screaming and running away and there's some human characters we don't really care about." But he really goes into the technical and creative process when it would be so much easier to just fill that with more jokes.

Watching this I remembered that it was around this time that the monsters would begin to take personalities of their own. As Chuck pointed out, the analogy of the destruction caused by the atomic bomb just didn't fit with Godzilla anymore, he was just too big (pun intended) to just be a piece of symbolism.

Godzilla not only demonstrated a feeling of untamed chaos but also precise and calculated destruction. Something that feels the need to demonstrate that title "King of the Monsters." And Mothra and her children would continue to live up to the title "Guardian of the Earth." Protecting the world and all its life no matter how badly people abused nature. The contrast of Godzilla being a creation of science and Mothra a being tied to mysticism made for an fascinating parallel between the two. And while Godzilla may have to play the role of the hero in many films, only Mothra is the one everyone would say is truly heroic.
