When will requests reopen?
I'm curious, does anyone know? Also, I know on his Patreon the higher tiers get requests for free reviews. Now that he's closed reviews... what does that mean? Because it feels a bit... dishonest? Sorry, not accusing him of anything, but... if the higher tiers are still paying that money, for something that's not being delivered, well... yeah. How does that work? Or has he talked it over with them personally and they're fine with that? Cuz something like 200 bucks? That's more than I can give annually. But anyway. I'm wondering... when will requests open up? Not on Patreon, but in general. I know it's probably going to be years, but... 2024? Or so? Maybe earlier, maybe later? I dunno. Thoughts?

It relates to the size of the queue, with temporary limited re-openings linked to material he's going to cover and that might benefit from additional episodes covered. It's been a while since he stated the size of the queue, but IIRC it was like one year for Star Trek, twice that for non-Star Trek hour-long episodes and movies, and three times the latter for half-hour animation material. IOW, 1, 2, and 6 years respectively.
But I might not remember it correctly.

So... next year I could request something?

Re: When will requests reopen?
I thought reviews were currently open (as of October 3) for a few things?
Re: When will requests reopen?
That's more or less my understanding of it though I always thought it was closer to 1, 3, 6. I know I sent a request for (what is effectively a) movie 2 1/2 years ago almost to the day, and it hasn't come through the queue yet. Not a criticism of Chuck- god know he has enough on his plate, and I don't mind waiting another 2 1/2 years if it means at least another 2 1/2 years of reviews.Steve wrote: ↑Tue Oct 09, 2018 2:40 pm It relates to the size of the queue, with temporary limited re-openings linked to material he's going to cover and that might benefit from additional episodes covered. I'm pretty sure the way Chuck's currently doing thing- limiting reviews to strict categories at a time- will be the norm going forward. Don't mind this either- pretty much all the shows currently open are shows I'd watch.

I'd love to start requesting anime episodes, though I'm afraid it would take decades to get around to finishing them, lol. In other words, I'd be dead before he finished. What I'm interested in is seeing him review something like Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero, Elfen Lied, and Dragon Ball Z Kai and Dragon Ball Super. That's over 200 episodes. Just... I don't know if it can be done. LOL.

It would probably be better to have him finish out shows he's already started on.

Decades, man. Decades. I don't have that long to live. None of us do.

Yeah, I'd really expect any new anime (that isn't already in the queue) to not be up for request until sometime next decade. And even then, in micro quantities with increased price rates.
There might be an exception for stand-alone, self-contained anime films, falling into the regular film category, but still years before you'd see it: "Understand that the film queue is long and it will take a LONG time before I get to your movie" Roll in something like Akira or Metropolis or Spirited Away or The Girl Who Leapt Through Time or Your Name, as long as it isn't attached to a series full of prerequisite viewing, that could probably qualify here.

And hell, Dragon Ball Z Kai is something like 167 episodes and Dragon Ball Super ended with 131 episodes and is fully expected to return next year... that would be 298 episodes, and possibly more coming. Oi vey...
