Let us gush about Chuck...

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Let us gush about Chuck...

Post by Yukaphile »

I just feel so privileged to be here, on the forums, discussing all his video reviews, with fellow followers of his craft. He's certainly helped me to view Trek in new ways, and before his reviews, I'd never watched Voyager or Enterprise, and thus never knew what I was missing - and so in that sense, he was doing me a public service by making sure I could watch the good, and avoid the bad. So yeah. He's like a superhero. He said his moniker is like a Silver Age DC villain. More like a Silver Age DC hero. And yeah, that would make Neelix his arch-nemesis! ;)

I hear his voice now when watching a show he’s reviewed. It always gives me a laugh.

What really stands out to me is how he goes into the creative background of stuff; I've learned a lot about how budget and practical concerns impact storytelling.

Also I watch the comics history one over and over because Marvel having two boards of directors at once will never stop being funny.

Battlefield Earth. He helped me put into context what film serials and B-movies are.

I had to write to Chuck before I got onto these forums to tell him how good he is at what he does. I was listening to a lecture on comic history. And was looking forward to more with each portion.
His reviewing background for movies as well as the movie itself has allowed me to look at what is produced today and find what I feel is a weakness in the current market. Look at Jaws and Back to the Future. Special effects limitations required altering the films and in the long run improved them. From the hidden monster, to using the lightning bolt. And I would not have really known about these things had Chuck not done his research and let us know it in such easy to digest a manner.

I always look forward to his in-depth examinations and historical context videos. They're absolutely wonderful.

Absolutely. I must've watched the Doctor Who missing episode videos half a dozen times and they're far superior to anything I recall the BBC themselves making about the same topic. And the Hero's/Shadow's/Hermit's Journey trilogy might be the best web-based documentary ever made.

I love the videos when Chuck jumps up and down yelling This episode is made of Stupid. When Chuck likes a show, he just tells the story with all these extra details.
