SW The Old Republic: Bounty Hunter

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

SW The Old Republic: Bounty Hunter

One issue I have with Star Wars games is that you always find yourself on planets mentioned in the movies. It's a big big galaxy and yet we're always finding ourselves on Hoth, Tatooine, Coruscant, Alderaan (if it's set before episode IV), Yavin, and the moon of Endor. I'm not sure if it is just laziness on the part of the writers not wanting to create new worlds or if they're trying to push the nostalgia factor so hard in order to get some of the good will afforded the movies.

I don't mine Alderaan since we never seen it in the original trilogy not really. Although unless your dealing with the hutts I think Tatoonie is kinda dull.

Yeah, I don't think we saw much of Alderaan even in the prequels, and even then, it was a brief shot. I haven't played the game in over two years, so outside of Vos, the Eternal Empire, the planet the Sith/Republic alliance against the Eternal was based on, and the bargin-bin Cybertron, I don't know what planets they've introduced into the game that weren't in the movies and TV series, even if it's a mention.

Tatooine’s supposed to be dull. It’s the furthest from the bright centre of the universe after all. I understand coming back in RotJ for thematic reasons, but the EU kept adding ancient empires, bounty hunters and crime lords for no good reason.

I think it’s a symptom of taking a setting that was invented for telling one story in and trying to use it as somewhere to play many games. If you stick to the original characters and settings it feels small, if you invent too much it stops feeling like the original idea that made you want to join in in the first place. I enjoy watching these videos - partly because it means I get the story without all he tedious this setting doesn’t feel very Star Wars to me. YMMV of course.

Random thought:

The Knights of the Eternal Throne expansions are wonderful if you're playing a Light Side Sith who wants to transcend the Dark vs. Light dichotomy or a Jedi disillusioned with the Republic. It sucks if you're a committed bad guy or Muggle.

The Bounty Hunter would be like, "Yeah, why don't we have Lana fighting Arcann. You're a goodie goodie Sith Lord."

Yeah, KOTET worked quite well as Lady Wrath, World-Weary 18-time Galactic Savior, as she ruthlessly snarked at literally everything and everyone, vowed to do the exact opposite of what Vitiakorion said whenever mechanically possible, and tried to get into Lana Beniko's pants on the grounds that a competent sane Sith lord is hot.

I think that as anything other than a Knight or a very snarky mostly-LS Warrior, it would suck. Hell, the only DS options that really make sense are lightsabering that annoying guy and the idiot warmongering bureaucrat in KOTET.

IS it really Dark Side to kill Saresh?

:)

Or execute Kaliyo after she dips into terrorism?

Anyone else having trouble watching part 5 on the site?

It keeps throwing the error "An error occurred. Please try again later. (Playback ID: rSP4uQXVt1-fw15G) "

If you are having this trouble, I managed to watch it by clicking the 'watch later' button on the top of the video and using my youtube Watch Later list rather than the site.

nope worked fine for me

also i have to agree with chuck on the over reaction of the republic im betting the master that the bounty hunter killed during the great hunt is one of 2 things either jun saros the idiot who is organizing everyone after the bounty hunter, was a college and good friend and train and fought together, or this is a master/apprentice and one is that to the other, meaning this is completely fulled by revenge. the bounty hunters killed someone and this guys moving planets to get at you. this also makes you think about the jedi and the sith both seem at this time to be fairly messed up and to be burden with people running it that have personal or political agendas

Oh, it's definitely personal.

He's after revenge but frames it as JUSTICE.
